Haha, thats typical desi mentality… if its a buffet, you should eat a lot .
I say no, you are not paying to eat a lot… you are paying for the variety… so enjoy it, drink whatever you want and eat whatever you want and then pay for yourself, so no-one can complain about you wasting their money
A little of everything usually works for me… i usually have one plate of starters (i prefer starters) and then one plate of mains…and then if i have room, i go for dessert.
At the end of the day, everyone knows how much they can/can’t eat. Don’t force yourself to eat that much if you physically can’t. I’d rather each as much as i know i can and finish my plate, rather than overfill my plate and just end up playing with my food…it just goes to waste.
Maroush , if you ever get a chance go to Karim’s .. I think they are alot better then nawaabs … I think karims and Akbar’s have the same owners … the food is totally fantastic …
^I think it may have something to do with how the space on your plate is used. If you take only a couple of items…and small portions of it…it may make your plate look near empty. Instead…you put small portions of MANY things in your plate…so that the plate looks more filled up. It may give the illusion of you eating a fuller meal. And then eat slowly. If you get done with your food before your friends and just sit there with an empty plate…it could look like you never took that much food to begin with.
OOo when we went to for pizza in Lahore, fiance and bro-in-law, put stuff on the sides of the plate to hold more inside, nevermind the fact that mixing macaroni salad with pineapples tasted gross......
So true…I don’t understand that mentality! Some people’s plates look like a volcano has exploded ! They’re piled high with food and they still have room for a second and third helping !
I remember once I was returning to the table with my main course plate in one hand … and about 8 pieces of naan in the plate in my other hand .. and people were looking at me in shock !!! … actually the naan plate was for the whole table to share naans so we wouldnt have to run back and forth … even the waiters were giving me creepy looks
^ lol hahaha! Moti :) They were probably wondering how a woman can eat that many naan breads!
BTW have you noticed that if you go to a Pakistani restaurant, they tend to watch you walking over to the buffet, how much food you are eating, how many times you go up! It sooo puts me off!
oooooh ihate that the most, when people ask you to grab them something...but u know that the other people are going to think you're taking it all for yourself:D
