i washed my prayer mat(mussalla) and its damaged.May be its quality was not good.How should i dispose it off?i don’t want to throw it straight away as u know its sacred thing.please any ideas?thanks

A prayer mat is not sacred. In fact you would not even need one to pray, as long as the ground is clean.

Never disposed of a damaged Prayer mat, but once gave a very old prayer mat to these Aid Camps which we have here for deserving countries like Palestine, Somalia etc. Usually give my old or not in use clothes too in those camps.

it's just a piece of cloth you pray on...it has got NO significance in it's disposal...just put in a garbage bag and dispose it off.
If it has some Qur'aanic aayat on it then you cut that piece out and burn it.

I've never seen a prayer mat with Qur'aanic aayat on it. You couldn't really put that on the floor then, could you?

you are right but i mentioned that some rugs [in the maker's wildest imaginations] put something on it...i just mentioned a possibility. these days bid'atiyaa log kuchh nayaa kar guzarne ke liye unke dil meN chhaul uThtii rahtii hai k vo kia nayaa karDaaleN deen meN...aisaa ho bhii saktaa hai aayinda saalo meN yaa kaun jaane aisaa ho bhii chukaa ho...maiN ne to nahiiN dekhaa abhii tak...zahe naseeb!

If it's not usable, you can dispose it off in regular cloth recycling box, they recycle and reuse all kinds of materials in my opinion.
But I do admire your respect for the sacred thing

You may keep it somewhere in the corner of the room, behind the curtain, under the bed or at any other place rather than disposing off. It won't take much space.
