how to deal with a closed mind.....

Re: how to deal with a closed mind…

Wow this much hatred for pakistan

And yes it’s mostly down to parenting I agree, regardless of the place. And I can imagine where your husband’s coming from too. These fears arent baseless.

Re: how to deal with a closed mind.....

If you are referring to my post, I don't hate Pakistan. I was merely giving examples that, everything that Nadia's husband has him worried, happens in Pakistan too and can happen in Pakistan as well. All he has to do is to focus on his parenting skills and iA his girls will turn out really well, regardless of where he and his wife decide to raise them.

Re: how to deal with a closed mind.....

which part of model town park exactly?? and what time??

Re: how to deal with a closed mind…

I don’t know why those fears don’t exist for Pakistan though. =/ Even my own father, he was UBER strict with us here in the states…but whenever we’d go visit Pakistan…he was so lax and chill about everything. I mean, I was stared down by men WAY more in Pakistan in one month than I’d been in my whole life in the States. I don’t hate Pakistan either…but you have to admit it’s not some heavenly place to bring up your children, especially girls. It’s the same, if not worse, as these Western countries everyone is so quick to point fingers at.

Re: how to deal with a closed mind.....

ive been bred and brought up in the UK - this place is 1000% time more safer for a girl and esp after marriage as if all else fails at least she wont have to face any discrimination as much as she would in PK (inshallah your daughters will find good spouses).

In the UK when u sit down on a bus, u can actually sit down, there are no pervy men nipping u, rubbing their legs on u or staring at you.

The law and order and general nounce about social acceptable behaviour in this county is also 1000% better - so this helps to deal with batameez ppl.

It is not the law in this country to go out partying etc there are many other places, facilities and lifestyle ppl are allowed to live - so any activity that can lead youths to go astray are not forced on them.

Pakistani is no PURE country in the sense of peoples morals and behaviour

Ive exprienced both cultures

Re: how to deal with a closed mind.....

nadzz arent you from the UK? shouldnt you being as an example be enough?

how to deal with a closed mind.....

I was going to say the same. Are you not a valid example? Also give other examples of kids/ girls you know of that turned out great and explain how. Im sure he just wants reassuring rather than a debate of which is better or worse.

Re: how to deal with a closed mind.....

All sorts of people live in the UK and US.

He has no faith in his own tarbiyat? In his own abilities as a parent?

Re: how to deal with a closed mind.....

I think the security concerns are ridiculous.

His real reasons are probably concerning religion and how his kids will be brought up and like people have said, it depends a lot on the parents. People in Pakistan do anything and everything anyways, so what's the difference?

Re: how to deal with a closed mind.....

Any concerns he has are 50 times as worse in Pakistan than over here

Give your hubby a balanced response ...

Yes in the UK there are legal nightclubs - in Pakistan there are illegal ones
Yes in the UK there is legal gambling and alcohol drinking - in Pakistan these are happening illegally
Yes in the UK there are indecent posters in places where our kids can see them - In Pakistan however everything that is wrong is hard to detect
In the UK we can make clear separation and our kids understand that this is done by non-Muslims we do not do that - In Pakistan however everyone is a Muslim the sinner and pious and it is harder for the kids to see the good from the bad.
Yes in Pakistani we are safe from being hurt by non-Muslims verbally and physically, but we are not even safe from our own people
In the UK we are safer from fraud and there is no load-shedding ... In Pakistan we get good weather - the UK can be a bit drab - but it never bakes
In Pakistan we can be natural - but in the UK we learn to be better people through the sense of being ambassadors of our religion

TV here is TV there and TV there is TV here - because of the internet

There are masajid the UK - but there will not be the mother's home
The UK has places like cinema and theme parks - but life can be too fast in the UK
The UK has no bazaar set-up and shops shut early - but there are places in the UK where it is half-decent
The UK has nice countrysides - but Pakistan has more space and it our land
The UK is less of a home but it is clean and no dust
Th UK is less noisy but sometimes uncomfortably silent

The UK is expensive ... Pakistan has people with weapons - the UK weapons are hidden because they are not legal
The UK has lots of forms to fill and lots of paperwork to get things done - but at least things get done and there is no pushing in long queues ...

Re: how to deal with a closed mind.....

add, In UK people like Zardari dont get eligibility of presidency. :D

Re: how to deal with a closed mind.....

^ To be fair, this doesn't mean that there aren't crooks. The crooks are just more respectable in public, and have to hide their thievery.

Disclaimer: I am in no way taking away the accomplishments of Mr. 10%. He is truly in a league of his own, and one of the all-time greats.

Re: how to deal with a closed mind.....

With interest rates high in Pak compared to the west, 10% is not what it used to be.
