Stop posting. There is no option to deactivate account in these forums. If you want to forget password for your account so that you never have the temptation to come back and post then eat 10 choo-a-ray every morning and drink a cup of dear milk. You will forget the password problem solved.

i will think about this again. But only for zero post users. And will prolly add to the registration screen as well that user deactivation is not allowed.

the problem is that posts are associated with a user. Its up to the user to hide or reveal their true IDs. we don’t ask for any publically identifying information. When someone wants to deactivate, it ruins the continuity of our threads.

However, we have deactivated and deleted users on individual basis. We recognize that people make mistakes.

Good balanced response.

But in electronic age everything is possible.

Just change the user name of the person to Blank/Deactivated or DA-1, DA-2, DA-3......... etc.

If an unknown person comes to emergency at hospital, they are named John Doe # 1, 2, 3,.......... etc.

Or Jane Doe (female) # 1 etc.

Ban the user/id.

ban will attach a negativity to that nick. I think the account should be deactivated and it should say at the bottom that it is deactivated. Like banned account is identified.

What if an accout automatically expire. Like if a user didn't used it for a certain period, the account automatically expire. No need the ban option nor deactivation. :)
