I have been struggling with finding an effective way to cut meat - especially with bone in at home.
I’ve tried various knives including butcher ones, they work to an extent, where i can cut thwm after whacking it several times, but by then there are tiny pieces of bone in the meat and the bones are more like cracked so they can hurt you if you arent careful of the ends.
I’ve been looking to an electronic one, and when i showed my husband, he just rolled his eyes lol cuz he thinks im way too into kitchen gadgets. There are knife looking ones, and then a mini version one you see at halal meat stores .. but i dont know which ones would be good for bone
Anyway - suggestions ?
For those of you who are going to say - buy breast instead, or have the butcher do it for you .. let’s just say those aren’t options so suggestions only on how to do it at home please
If you are talking about chicken I keep the wide blade on the bone and hit the top of cleaver with my palm, you might not be able to do that so you can use a light hammer to strike the blade, you can use a saw to cut goat bones. Investing in good knives is a great idea. I am obsessed with knives, axes, hatchets.
Ive used a few different cleavers, with hammers... i still get the bones cut up in a wierd eay where its sharp and tiny pieces come off, and hence, into whatsver im making
What kind of a saw are you talking about? And is it effective?
The task is to cut and it sure cuts, in butcher shops they use band saws, my friends use chainsaw to chop a 1000 lbs moose, many men use the reciprocating electric saw. I sometimes use a hatchet also. Never question a master lol!! watch the master butcher.
These are my favorites for cutting chicken, I go bach and forth with the cleaver till it makes a notch in meat and then press the cleaver down and give it a strike with the top of my palm.
easy way out, why don't you always buy the boneless meat or ask the butcher to cut it for you? the Halal meat store that i get my meat from always cuts the meat for me as i desire.
