I hav an avi file ( movie= salam namaste ) which i want to copy onto cd but the file size is 710MB and the cd can afford only 700MB.
So wat should i do to burn it on cd ??

get a 800MB CD-R and enable over burn option before burning the file on CD.

den split the files and make two Cds.

CD-r's are are not that expansive anyore.. you can get 1 piece for like 50 cent.

you can burn upto 715 MB (or even more, depends on cd-r media) of data on a 700 MB disk using overburn + Disk at once method. Dont forget to simulate the burn process first.
which cd-writer and software do you use?

Or to reduce the size of the avi just delete some of the the end credits of the film using VirtualDub and save it as avi using direct stream copy in both audio and video menus.

Here is wat i use
after installation, open the program and choose it to split the file in 400MB… it will automatically give u the no. of pieces ( 2 ) and give u the files in the same directory the original file is in.

hmm :-/ no feedback from post starter. Thats the main problem with this forum. People dont bother to give any feedback if thier problem is solved or not.
Todd, not a bad idea, only if he converts the avi file to dvd format using some DivX-to-DVD tools. But burning a 700 MB file on a DVD±R, thats a big NO NO!!! :nono3:

Helo mr genius i tried ur trick .
The file size was 710.5 MB and split into 690.5 MB and 20 MB into seperate folder but the problem is it doesnot show me the 20 MB file only shows 690.5 MB file . The 20 MB file is the remmainig ending of the movie. I tried twice with different sizes but the same result. So Guide me plzz thx

yar, split equally...
choose 400MB .... it can lose 20MB, but less chance of losing 310MB ;)... so try that... i tried that yesterday with "No Entry" it worked fine..
p.s. try to look for the 20MB file in the same folder ...

Soory bro i tried it again now i find the file but its not running the 20MB file . Even i tried with splitting it with 400MB and 310MB , but still not running the 310MB , soory for being pain in A$$ wat i am doing it wrong ??

hmm, now you’r upto split the damn file into two, burn it on two CDs so you can play them in your divx enabled DVD player. And after your done watching disk 1 your gonna get up and change the disk so you can watch the whole movie. GREAT!!
