how to cope?

My mum told me yesterday that my dad was crying thinking about me all alone in a foreign country. I got married and live in Greece. It tears me apart that my family misses me like this.

How do you cope with missing your family?

think about all the negative things your family did to you.

Athens, your family will feel better if they KNOW for sure that you are happy there. As well as that, both you and your family will need time to adjust to the new arrangement.

Re-assure them that you are happy and they this should help them adjust to it. Tell them about your environment and the people (the positive things) to allay their fears.

Also if there is any scope for you to visit back home or for them to visit you, you should look into it. It means that u r not lost to them forever.

Athens, send them lots of pictures! They'll see how happy you are and that you're experiencing new things, etc.

Also, it will get naturally better with time. I first started spending long periods away from my family when I went to college and for the most part have lived pretty far away from them ever since. The first six-month stretch I spent away from them seemed to last forever, but over time we both grew accustomed to it and I also got better at making the most of the quality time I do get when I visit them, sending them occasional surprise letters or care packages from my city, etc.
