The people who lived in the house before us left the hob in this condition. I’ve tried cleaning it with every thing I could think of but it doesn’t get off. I’ve tried Mr. Muscle Kitchen, I’ve tried mould cleaner, I’ve tried oven cleaners etc. But this thing just doesn’t come off or reduce.
my goodness, some people just get too used to living with filth.
We had the same problem with one of the houses we moved to, you need a lot of patience, make a thick paste with baking soda and salt with water, and put on this mess and leave it on for couple of hours, then take a scrub and rub rub and rub, please use gloves or your nails will get crazy filthy.
The whole think may not come off the first time, may take few tries.
We also have a steam cleaner that helps to take some of this kind of gunk off. Good luck.
spray cillit on it , leave it for 20 minutes , then take a butter knife and using the wrong side of it , lightly scratch it off .. while scratching ensure that you are not using the knife in a direct angle , it will scratch the stove as well , but a laid angle .. that should take some of this dry grease off .. the rest of it you can scratch off using those silver scratch things you get in pound stretcher , i have forgotten the name , but its a really good thing for aggressive grease
I went to tesco today and got this Hob Cleaner that performed the miracle. Yayyy! I had to scratch and rub a lot but nonetheless the point is it got removed .. Phew now I can die in peace when ever that will be .. Ill post pictures of the improved condition as well
There is something in USA called magic eraser. For cleaning stoves I have found that EASY OFF oven cleaner is best. Make sure you open windows and doors before cleaning .
I’d just hire the services of a professional oven cleaning service, you’ll never be able to get it as sparkly clean as they can and its worth every penny they charge (probably around £50 for a normal sized hob and extractor hood)
Then once it’s cleaned you can maintain it as per the suggestions above.
Where is this available? I have a similar problem with our electric stove…the people before us made it so dirty and grimy that it juat doesnt clean- ive tried all types of stove cleaners, vinegar and baking soda mixture, soap and water as well as magic eraser but to no avail
