How to Clean the Dust from an Overheating Laptop?

My sony vaio is giving me trouble! I just searched on net and few sites say the main shortcoming of the VAIO series of laptops is the lack of cooling capacity . So what’s the solution? I didn’t buy from Pakistan so i can’t possibly have it checked under warranty and i don’t feel comfortable getting it checked here in pakistan as it will cancel out the original warranty it came with.

So what should be done?

1. new laptop
2. go back to a new desktop
3. cooling plate for the computer
4. fly computer free

if its been less than a yr old its still under warranty
always keep your laptop on a hard flat surface to avoid overheating

3. I do have one but i don’t use it regularly and i doubt it can get rid of the dirt that has been trapped in .

It has 3 years warranty and 1/2 years warranty for Pak but sony centre here refuses to acknowledge it .

o the heat sink - you gotta suck or blow air in it - use the vacuum

^ Im not that tech savy that i would be able to manage this on my own! I guess i will send it over to where i bought it from and just rely on the tablet or borrow a laptop till i get my vaio back.

Get a can of compressed air (Easily available at Aghas/Ebco in Karachi, most definitely it should be available in Lhr too)
Turn the laptop off
Blow the can of compressed air through the air vents located underneath or the sides of your laptop. (Post here if you’re having trouble locating with the model number of the laptop)

This should get rid of most of the dust trapped inside.

If I were you, I’d get a reading of the temperatures the machine is currently working at and with the dust being present in there. Once you have the readings noted down, I’d then move on to blow the air out and get another reading just so I could gauge the difference it has made.

Once done and satisfied, you’re supposed to say “Thankyou Maasaa”

2 yrs in june.

Samsung. It’s actually going to waste, i have just tried it once and i feel alot more comfortable with the laptop so i never used it.

No point if you’ve decided you’ll be handing it out to some lousy shop that will charge you as well as keep you waiting days for a job that should only take 5 minutes tops of your or his time.

^ This should give you the readings you’re looking for, i.e: Cpu temps, Northbridge/Southbridge temps. Disregard the HDD (Hard disk drive) temps, they’re irrelevant.

There is no unscrewing or disassembling involved. Just locate the air vents and blow air from a can of compressed air. Take necessary precautions though as you don’t want dust messing up your room or the laptop waali. I mostly do it in a gallery or a bathroom and with a mask on. You could however do it with a dupatta covering your face and glasses to protect the waddee waddee akhaan.

use a blower…

A blower will in most cases destroy/blow the finnicky thin plastic fins along the way as well. A vacuum cleaner on the other hand is not going to suck in the sticky greasy particles of dust hovering around the heatsink area, which is mainly the root cause of a overheating machine.

The gpu (Graphics processing unit) temps are a concern, hence why you see the firey red (warning) icon next to it and thus where the root of your problem (overheating) lies. The rest all can be considered good. I’d want the Cpu temps to be a little lower but that will be taken care of once the gpu temps decrease to a certain acceptable limit.

p.s. I never really expected you to get a screenshot of the software this fast, which pretty much explains the intelligence we’re dealing with here. Tou jee, indirectly you’re well equipped to shoot the enemy down without much hassle.
