How to clean the bathroom

Re: How to clean the bathroom

Because they aren’t taught/made to do chores as a kid…Most do grow up and do it…doesn’t make them bad or dumb people…bus :hinna:

Re: How to clean the bathroom

Depends on definition of bad or dumb..

1)No issues with kids who are not taught..
2)nor any with adults who have grown up and do it at a sufficient enough level.
3)or with people seeking information to be able to better manage their homes and lives

The challenge is with
a) the period in between these two,… three
b) the longer that period is and
c) the number of others that are impacted and to what level..

that does mean either the person either ‘bad’ i.e. they dont care about how their poor habits or skills impact others,
or dumb, in the sense that they are oblivious to their impact on others or dumb in the sense that they have not learnt the stuff.

I have seen this with college age guys, who continue their slobby ways, and I have seen this with newly wed stay at home ladies who cant seem to manage to keep a 1 bedroom flat clean and organized. There is no excuse that someone was not taught in childhood, unless it is a child giving that excuse
..its not rocket science… with internet, information is easily found, youtube has videos on everything.

Re: How to clean the bathroom

Previously some one else lived in the house who left the washroom tiles & walls full of mould. Now, the looks has completely changed, let me tell you how:

Wall & Tiles - were cleaned by a Mould Cleaner which left them completely white & spotless. Now I clean them with Mr. Muscle & a brush I have.
Tub - This too is cleaned with Mr. Muscle & brush. Dry with sponge.
**Floor **- With a floor wipe mop with dettol floor wipes attached (this one → http://www.google.co.uk/). Later I dry with towel.
**Toilet **- Duck liquid cleaner left over for 10 minutes & then cleaned with a toilet brush. Also, I leave Duck discs on the side for daily cleaning.
**Taps & Showers **- Viakal against limescale one. It leaves it sharp silver shiny! Makes me so happy to see them so crystally shiny.
Drain - Soda crystals that clear up the drain

In the end, I just use an air freshener to give a fresh smell to the place. Done!

Like this ^^^

I’m getting the hang of things now. The biggest problem is hair and threads and stuff on the tiled floor which, once the bathroom gets wet from showering or even doing wudu, stick to the floor and it looks all gross. I’m hoovering every day now so that stays clean. Tub, basin, toilet, mirrors etc are all easy to clean now.

Do people clean the bathroom walls - e.g. I have tiled walls, right where the shower is - do you clean that every day, and if so with what?

Re: How to clean the bathroom

Does anyone else feel the need to get down on hands and knees to get floors really clean? I find mops just don’t get to little bits…

How to clean the bathroom

I don’t clean the washroom everyday; I do it thoroughly when ever I do it. And yes I do clean the tiles in the shower area with a brush & Mr. Muscle. If you don’t clean them once in a while mould of limescale develops.

And yeah super summer I do sometimes get on my knees to get the corner areas done that the mop skips.

Re: How to clean the bathroom

I do this ^ .. I dont like mopping

Re: How to clean the bathroom

Every Saturday morning, I spend about 30-45 mins to do the bathroom cleaning! I have stopped using chemicals in most part of the hosue (vinegar and baking soda) except bathroom.. I used to have all these different bottles for different things but now I have comet disinfecting powder that I use for toilet, bath tub and sink.. just clear all surfaces, wet the surface, sprinkle the powder, leave the bathroom for 5 mins, come back n scrub with a brush, and wash it away. It takes care of everything! I also wipe dry it after cleaning.. I dont like anything wet in the bathroom.

For floor, I use swiffer wet wipes and get down on my hands n knees n reach every corner of the bathroom followed by a wet and dry paper towel on the floor.

Re: How to clean the bathroom

I too do this. Hate using the mop, or broom, vacuum in the bathroom areas. Just my preference.

Re: How to clean the bathroom

After showering etc, we take a paper towel/ toilet paper (clean of course), and quickly wipe up the bathroom floor. If one of the children has not done it, I send them back in to clean up their mess.

I wash the tiled shower/tub area that is way above my head once a week. I usually spray a cleaner on it, and then use a long handled scrubber and scrub it clean. If that area is clean, I will also skip it another week or so and just concentrate on the general shower/tub area. Every 2 /3 weeks , I wipe the walls from the ceiling downwards in the entire bathroom, all those dust bunnies are hard to reach. The ceiling vents, light areas will also get a quick clean over at this time too.
