There are several means and ways to find such persons.But you need to understand somethings about spirituality and how things go about in this path.

The easy place to find such people are the centers of different spiritual silsilas such as Qadri, Naqshbandi, Chishti etc silsilas. These pious people/pirs are heads of different silsilas.

Once you have located a certain spiritual silsila at a certain Dargah/shrine etc, you will come face to face with the Pir of that spiritual silsila.

The first physical thing that you may notice is that, he may or may not have a beard. He maybe wearing a three piece suit instead of kamiz shalwar. But the important things about him will be:
He will have shine in his eyes.
He will have a certain attraction about him making you want to constantly look at him and this will give you comfort inside you.
His face will be shining also even if he is an african negro.
His voice will automatically have an effect on you that you will want to listen to him and talk to him.
He will answer any question that you may ask him about anything, be it your past or future.

The basic theme is that you will want to visit him again and again for you will feel comfortable when you talk to him like all your worries have vanished, he will motivate you and give you hope which will stay in your heart and make you contented. Once you come out after meeting him, you will be satisfied and relaxed.

These are the basic points which are signs of a true Dervish, fakir, WaliALLAH etc. You should also take notice that does he follow shariah, sunnah etc, by the way he deals with his mureeds, by the way he offers prayers, by the way he takes koran and hadith seriously, by the way he gives utmost importance to ALLAH's commands and follows them religiously etc.

The most basic path in sufism or spirituality involves understanding about:

Faith (as a muslim to start with)

Ishq (ishq-e-majazi (love with a human) leading to ishq-e-hakiki (love with ALLAH))

Respect (extreme form of down to earth attitude towards everyone. ALLAH likes people who give respect and keep a down to earth attitude and kill their ego 100%) This may also include killing of nafs.

Understanding about the soul (rooh) and what its capable of doing.

Understanding about telepathy, meditation and certain form of breathing excercises by zikr-e-Illahi etc.

Understanding Life after death and how good souls benefit us.

Understanding how are ALLAH's words (KORAN) powerful enough that they work when recited.

I have just listed these points.Each one of the above stated points and sub-points requires explanation to understand.

I really aspire to be closer to him and share an even more warm relationship with him.

I already believe in Allah, Pray to him and seek his help/guidance at times of need and distress and be thankful to him for all his nemats. Yet i have this want in me to have a stronger faith in him which enables me to take anything and everything that is coming my way as a challenge by him and with a trust that he shall make it pass for me. I don’t want to complain to anyone and he shall take care of it.

What do i need to have this level of faith? How many of you have experienced this for yourself?

Allah SWT said in Surah Al Baqarah verses 152: **“So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me.”

**Moreover Allah SWT Said in Surah Al Imran verses 31: "Say, [O Muhammad], “If you should love Allah , then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.” and

In Surah An Nisa verses 80: “He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah ; but those who turn away - We have not sent you over them as a guardian.”

In my view to achieve that level, we must obey what Allah SWT ordered us to do and follow the right path (the Sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad ) that Allah SWT clearly mentioned in the book Holy Qur’an. Follow of Sunnah means to live life like our Prophet Muhammad lived by the order of Allah SWT. This is how I believe we can achieve the highest level of faith. In Book ‘Knowledge’ of Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 71:**"Narrated Muawiya: I heard Allah’s Apostle saying, “If Allah wants to do good to a person, He makes him comprehend the religion. I am just a distributor, but the grant is from Allah. (And remember) that this nation (true Muslims) will keep on following Allah’s teachings strictly and they will not be harmed by any one going on a different path till Allah’s order (Day of Judgment) is established.”

** Remembrance of Allah SWT in every moment is essential as narrated in the Book ‘ONENESS, UNIQUENESS OF ALLAH (TAWHEED)’ of Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 502 **"Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Allah says: ‘I am just as My slave thinks I am, (i.e. I am able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him) and I am with him if He remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than they; and if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him; and if he comes one cubit nearer to Me, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.’ "

**May Allah SWT guide us and enable us to achieve that level of faith. Ameen.

I can tell you have been sitting in the company of one. I can feel this air of sincerity and simplicity in your disposition.

Couple of more things you'll notice about him/her is, her/his glance will penetrate your heart. The intensity of it can bring tears in your eyes.

Sufis drink this special kind of wine, its called wine of tauheed, they are mostly drunk and whoever sits with them gets drunk too. They pour the wine in the cup of whosoever comes in contact with them.

They maybe engineers and doctors and teachers, social workers and home makers, cooks and bakers. Ever visited a doctor whose clinic is jam-packed at any given hour of the day? Ever came across a teacher whose charisma takes you in some other world? Ever visited a restaurant that always has a waiting que? Pious people are everywhere, if it wasnt for them, the evil would bring the doom's day tomorrow.

Hence I said, if one keenly looks for guidance, God will make arrangements.

I agree but that is a sure shot place where one can be found atleast.

not necessarily bro...there are aHaadees where by we have been warned that as we approach roz e qayaama, it will be harder and harder to find people on the right path. chances are the phony ones will be found in those so-called Khaanqaahs while the real ones will retract in to caves and isolation [gosha-nasheenii iKhtiyaar karenge]

Dont go look for a pir/faqeer. Just ardently search for guidance. See God in everything around you. Feel the thirst of your soul. Talk to Him often in whatever language you speak.

God will slowly and gradually guide you. The next book you read, the next movie you watch, the person you meet in the grocery store, they will all give you clues.

God is very wise, he knows how to guide a person who is looking for it. Also, the good souls will guide you, they are all around us, Prophets, saints, and sages dont die.

Moreover, when your start connecting with the soul, or when you give strength to the soul, it will speak to you through your intuition, thats the voice of God.

This is a beautiful post hence i took my time to reply to this because there is just so much i have to say about this but there are no words to describe it all.

I have always been very observant and analytical ever since i was a kid so i remember having deep discussions about religion with my dad even at a age when kids usually don't pay much heed to such topics. So observing people and things around me and seeing Allah and his doings in it has always been part of my life, my personality.

I believe the key thing is not avoid getting distracted, which we all do by frivilous things around us, and keep our contact deep and direct with Allah.

Wow, i feel i need somebody like that so much in my life right now. However then it makes me think, why don't i just invest same energy and interest in getting my equation direct with Allah and don't go for anyone who god knows may be real or just one of the fake drama kings/queens out there to make easy money?!. After all, Allah has said he's accesible to one and all just depends on our convinction and faith.
