you can approach them by saying that *I don’t want you both to go through any trouble of setting the new house , cleaning it & furnishing it and now that the move has already been postponed for a week so it’s wise that I go there now , clean the apartment/house , furnish it . set the things and get everything done before you both come and start living in it.

Tell them that you want to save them from trouble & thats why you want to move there 1st and want to finish up all the work before they start living in it.

Don’t say that you want to go there for a vacation & don’t say anything about the rent :slight_smile:

The Apartment is brand new painted, carpeted etc everything including all the smallest of items is new.

So that will not work

Try it ? Need to be there for engineers and installations?

why dont you just say il go a week ahead of you, and make sure everythings ok, cant leave a brand new place with new equipment etc all by itself...shouldbt be a big deal.

Building engineers are coming for some maintenance issues and someone needs to be there to let them in.

tough love. tell them you want some time alone at the new place. better in the long run for everyone to let you individuate. if they sulk, let them. they aren't going anywhere, you are still their kid.

from what you've been mentioning.... if everyone else has been selfish and looking out for themselves, no reason why you shouldn't be either.
