I have a few strands of while hair, mainly in the front. I was thinking of applying henna. Now the thing is i have never applied it before. I am afraid that it will make my hair ganda wala orange since i already have brown hair.
Ok so the question is should i mix anything with henna, like i have heard about soaking it with chaye ki patti wala paani, or should i just go ahead and apply it as such? Ideas? I have done highlights before, this time i wanted to try henna because, first, its more natural chemically, and second, i kind of like the auburn shade it gives to hair but since my hair color is light, i am not sure how they will turn out.
Re: How to apply henna on hair?
I have never been a fan of henna on hair for color. I'd rather use a dye but if you want to use henna and not sure how its going to turn out for you may be do a patch test to find out?
Re: How to apply henna on hair?
It turns deep burgundy-brown with repeated applications. I mix mine with some chai ka pani, instant coffee powder, one whole egg, a few drops of lemon juice and a teaspoon of olive oil. Use the tea to make the paste. Soak it overnight and apply the next day like a mask. Try to avoid the skin like any dye, let it sit for atleast enough time that the top layer is dry. Wash out in the kitchen sink, to avoid the mess in the bathroom, yes it will stain your vinyl or tub calking. Once the first rinse is done, use a shampoo to remove the rest, use something for dry hair since henna does cause a bit of dryness. Wash till the water comes out almost transparent. I love the effect it has on hair, I am sure you'll love it if you can tolerate the messiness :)
Re: How to apply henna on hair?
I have applied henna for a while and continuous application makes my black hair turn into a deep red brown color that I really like. I also felt that it repaired the damaged hair. It does make hair dry so I always used conditioner after applying henna.
But then I had a couple of white hair that turned orange and I did not like that. I was not sure if repeated use will make them brown or what and so I stopped using henna. I would rather white hair than orange.
Also as the above poster suggested, may be try with all of those other ingredient. I would skip lemon juice though. Lemon juice is acidic and probably will cut the color instead of adding to it (IMO)

Also if its just few strands, try cutting them may be.
Re: How to apply henna on hair?
OMG this thread is mine LOL ![]()
I damaged my hair last year when I tried the Ombre hair (at home).
I promised my mom that I won’t dye them again and switched to henna. I do like the red reflect in my hair but not having red hair. So what I do is I mix henna with indigo(ratio 1:1) so I have brown hair with some reddish reflects and I love it. I will try to go a bit darker and wille put the henna paste first and then the indigo paste.
This is what I do :
I mix henna/indigo while its dry add one egg and some lemon, then I take some hot tea or coffee and put some laung powder in it. I let it rest for 10 minutes(it has indigo in it and you have to apply it within 20 mins) then I put it on my hair and wrap them, I let it at least 5-7 hrs then I wash it.
Once my mom scared me that you shouldn’t put it in winters, what I did was that I sectionned my hair in 4 and had 4 ponytails then I covered the part with henna so it didn’t directly touched my scalp.
I will post pix later =)

Re: How to apply henna on hair?
Indigo is a plant that has dark blue dye in it you can say it will make you hair look darker with a tint of blue. This is how it looks mixed with henna :
In the first part she used 2/3 henna and 1/3 indigo, the second one is 1/2 henna and 1/2 indigo, the last one is 1/3 henna and 2/3 indigo.
