In my line of work I can't be socially awkward because 99% of my work revolves around personal and professional relationships.

I have preferences. I prefer small gatherings 10 to 15 people get together is nice. Smaller the better I get to know people. Plus I can be rather forward. My first day in Kabul I randomly went around introducing myself to people around the office and chatted with them. I got a bunch of looks and comments. But met a few people who i am friends with still.
The only thing I am socially awkward about is desi girls. I won't deny that. I hesitate between going up and striking up a conversation as countrymen/women and just doing my own thing. Its easier with guys. Desi girls always give me attitude like I am trying to get into their pants when all I want to do so is say "Hey we are both Pakistani and I am new here so some help from a compatriot would be nice".

Welll i am not socially awkward at all. I am usually kinda guy who would litterally walk to someone i don't know and introduce myself. Don't know..not shy about it at all. Be it women and or men. Therefore i made lots of friends..but most particular desi girls have attitude problem. And that is what i noticed as well. They actually think i will try to hit on them and that is why i am introducing myself to them.
