Am I the only one here who knew about it in advance
It was very normal for me because I was told everything at school, surprisingly I didnt have No Cramps and No pain at all for the first few months and my mum found about mine after 6-7 months, I was so embarrassed to tell my mum and used to buy my own pads and hide it somewhere in my wardrob
i came to know from a friend of mine, when SHE even didnt know that i suffer with such a change or not, we were in sch0ol, and i came to know bcz she was having pain and told me yarr.....you know.... i have a terrible pain due to it (she named), and so said i, it what??? then sooner she realised that i dont know, later she kept on saying me, no i wont tell you and i being curious urged her to tell me else i will shout out loud in the class what the hell is it.... hahhahahhah i made her run all in the class over me, and she was like, pleeeeeeeeeeeeease stop it.... i was stopped at that moment but as soon as i reached home, i took out the dictionary and.......heehehhehhehehhe :D
My story is different - I knew as in school, we were in USA at that time, some chalak girl who was 9 at that time got hers and decided its time to educate me, it didnt really make much sense to me at that time, some 1-2 years later my elder sis got it and I saw it accientatly and ask her angry why didnt she tell me, I guess she was just embarrassed about it. Then I thought now its my time but nothing happened for few years and we went back to pakistan and I turned 14!!
One day I was sitting on the bed and my mom saw some stains on my salwaar and she said, beeta get some tissues u got ur periods, my sister came and started giggling, so that I started crying .. “oh why oh why I dont want it” .. lol
I went to the toilet and then noticed nothing came out and confused I asked my mother, then they noticed that my youngest sis who was 2 at the time, had some cut on her feet and that way she somehow transported the blood on my cloths! I was relieved and smiling.
Then a few months later, mother nature thought its enough and I got it at school, but thank God no pains for years and it was allways smooth, till I gave birth
My daughter I will educate her as soon as possible, even at 3 she is giving me pads sometimes when i am going into the toilet! I dont hide the pads and she should not feel embarras about it either.
ps. I know a friend, whose mom didnt speak with her daughters about it and their dad had to tell their 3 daughters about it
When i was in class 5,one of the girls in the class would try to educate all girls about it,as she had got hers, but i could hardly understand what she always referred to,but then, when i went home back in Pakistan, there one of my cousins talked and explained it to me,and then i got mine when i was 13.Since i was already told about it,i didn't really panick when i got them.
I believe its just so important that, girls should be taught about it well in advance,so that, they wouldn't panick when they get it for the first time.
My mom always said i wouldn't get my period or i'd have problems cz of my weight (from age 8 i heard that). i still never thought to ask what a period is. I got it wheN i was 10. I wasn't freaking out or anything but i thought it was really annoying. i changed my clothes in the bathroom and then my mom found it and told me wat it was. and she gae me a pad and then i was like "OHHH SO TAHTS WHAT THEY"RE FOR!".
It seems like a common trend here that women are not shy about it and are trying to make it a normal thing so young girls dont feel embarassed or reserved asking about it.
^ You know what, I was thinking I wouldn't like my daughters and sons knowing about anything until they really have to - just like how it was for me. I didn't know how babies were born for a long while - and I think I'd prefer it that way for my kids, as well.
^There is some good and some bad - for not telling your kids.
The good part: Your daughter will be aware and therefore NOT be afraid for the first encounter.
The bad part: The more information you feed to kids about birds and bees and protection - can also make them aware but they will be active at early age since they would have more "proper" knowledge. You can look at this as good or bad :(
Someone mentioned above that girls by age 11 should know ===========> well not anymore!!!!
Just last week my 10 year old niece had her first period! Seriously. She will be 11 years old in August.
I was left speechless - when my 6 and 7 year old witnessed why she needed a change!
exactly now the age limit is coming down to 9-10 yrs. i even heard a 13 yrs old gav birth to a baby.crazy.
my daughter is 4.5 but shes such a curious thing that she already has sume idea.always searching thru my wardrobe/washroom drawers even my personal garbage bin n then passing funny comments.
i intend to tell her on n off when she'll b around 8-9 if she doesn't find out on her own b4 that time.
