Just a general question:
If a girl’s marriage age seems to be passing by and her parents don’t seem to be in any thoughts to get her married off, then in this case, what should she do? How should she inform her parents that she wants to get married?

Tell them that you're really horny and that you've been eyeing this Black/Mexican construction worker with the bulging biceps, tattooed arms, and pierced ears and lip down the road. If a simple and direct approach won't work, then try something that'll shock them enough to step-up the rishta search.
OK more seriously:
You can tell your parents that, "Mom n Dad...many of my friends are getting married/have gotten married. And a few of them have asked if you guys are searching rishtas for me. I didn't know what to say to them as I had no clue, which made me wonder, are you searching for me?"
^Some desi parents feel that their daugthers should be sharmeeli and not so bold and brazen to bring up the question themselves. If your parents are like that.....then try the more indirect approach where you make it seem like the topic of rishtas was brought up by a bunch of friends.
OR....speak to them in a more direct/straightforward manner and tell them exactly what you've said in your thread.

Either you can directly talk to your parents or which ever one you feel closer too. And tell them clearly that you feel ready.

It IS considered "beysharam" to say it out loud. I understand your situation because I can say it to a million friends, and I have indirectly brought out the topic to my parents as well- but it has resulted in a talk about how they got married when they were 30 and they had a good life so I shouldn't be worried. Its funny because ALL of my friends and their parents are worried about me (in addition to being worried about their daughters haha). Two of the parents actually brought rishtas- to which ami abbu said no (with legitimate reasons though)
I have sorta given up, it'll happen when it's supposed to happen. They can't hasten or delay it so why worry about it, right?! In the meantime, if you do have someone- you can always tell them.

Pinky....just tell your parents that your ENGAGED/MARRIED friends had asked if your parents were searching for you....that you didn't know what to tell them.....and that's why you wanted to ask if they (your parents) were searching.
That way:
1) It's indirect....so you're making it seem like a general question that your friends were asking...that you didn't know how to respond to. So, it doesn't make you appear baysharam if that's what you're afraid of.
2) Considering how desi parents can be really competitive and conscious about these things.....it might even make them think "Yikes...Pinky's friends are getting hitched left, right, and center....and we don't wanna be left behind, so we need to be more aggressive with the rishta search."

since you said it was a general question,
maybe the educational studies haven't been completed yet? like college or higher education. maybe the parents are waiting for whoever it is you're talking about to settle into their job. maybe that's why they still haven't started the process yet
