When I first arrived on GS I considered people here just people, random strangers at that, I didn’t particularly care what I said or how I came out with it as ‘everyone was just a stranger behind a screen so who cares’.
But then I came to know a few people and it dawned on me, these are NOT just nicknames but these are REAL people, just like me.
I know some good people here, especially one, who is just as cool as anyone. Just because its ‘online’ does not mean we should treat people here differently to real life in terms of respect etc. Just because they are sitting behind a screen does not mean they’re any less real.
I think that people online will become more "real" to you...the more you interact with them. And also if there's a consistency in their posts/ideas/attitudes......as that can help develop some trust.
And I think that this is also the case with people you you interact with face to face in real life; the frequency and consistency help one feel more comfortable with others. As far as deception is concerned....while there's more of a risk of that online (where you can't always see the person or verify their identity)....deception takes place both in the virtual and real world.
For me it only started to feel real once i started to get to know the people and diferent characters... Its wierd how u actually begin to <3 some ppl and actually see tham as friends and not online wierdos
Its real to the extent tht I will give the person behind the nick the same respect I would give a person face-to-face.
I treat them as real ppl with feelings and not just nicknames…but I keep a distance.
Well GS friends are real friends and the people behind the screen are all real people...
At least thats what i think.
Deep down everyones different in real life to some extent but theres plenty who are a mere shadow of thier real selves online.
My GS friends are all real though i know that for sure and my closest friends on GS have been real life friends tue were miles apart but it's cheaper to chat than to phone...

i have never tried knowing the people behind the nicknames. Though I like quite a few ppl here from their posts :D
