How popular is Jhulelal worship in Pakistan

Given Jhulela is hindu saint incarnation fo Varun God , I was wondering how popular is there. Going by the song
Damadam mast qalender it seems sufi certainly belive in ti since sufi saint qalender’s name has been adjoined in the worship.
I have even seen more or less every singer from Pakistan singign this song.

At the same time when I looked at the state of jhulela temple ti seems in dilapidated state nto so looked after. So was wondering whether this belief is confined in few sufis and other exalted souls or others too visit this place to pay their obeisance..

here is the comple story abotu Jhulela and muslim ruler Misrishah..

Is this popular in Sindh at least amongst non-muslims..

Re: How popular is Jhulelal worship in Pakistan

Muslims don't "worship" anything or anyone besides the One God. Allah in arabic.

Some ignorant masses do ask of the saints for help (in a form of duaa through the saints to Allah), or make a vow that if they get so and so, they'll come and offer the poor food, or offer a new covering for the grave, etc.

But worship is a rather strong way to describe it. No one worships the saint, and yes the saint is quite popular. One of many in Pakistan. City of Multan is known as the City of Saints because it has so many shrines.

Re: How popular is Jhulelal worship in Pakistan

No muslim worships Jhulelal.

You'd find that some muslims (e.g. brailvees) are hardcore believers in peers...so I believe that some muslims do worship other things besides Allah.

i wud suggest to discuss it wid some learned scholar and he will explain u da concept of peer and most importantly "Baay-ut".

and i hope ur will misundersting will be removed.

baay-utt stems from the sunna of holy prophet (peace be upon him) like baay-ut rizwan and baay-ut uqbaa.

baay-ut is basically part of "tareeqat". it is the concept in which u assoscaite urself to some learned and pious person for spiritual guaidance. i wud suggest u to read "kushful mahjoob" by Hazrat Usman Hajveri (Data Gunj bukhsh RA). this book explains in great details the concept of tareeqat and allied subject. but the book is quite difficult and u surely need guidance from some learned scholar so that u can grasp the discussion/cocepts mentioned in the book.

there are also lot of books written **Prof Abdul Razzaq **about cocept of peer, baay-ut and tareeqat. but to understand those books is quite difficult unless u have guidance of a learned scholar.

Re: How popular is Jhulelal worship in Pakistan

^ I understand what u r saying, but the peers that these people worship are corupt, their there to gain money and that's all and misguide and brainwash their worshippers. Allah Maaf Farmai.

i got ur point and u r rite to great extent ........

but the point is mere observing the wrong behaviour of the most of the peer u cant challange the whole concept of this baay-ut and peer.

to tell u one thing is main qasoor general public ka bhi hay na peer and baay- ut basically for spirtual guidance kay liyay kay how can i lead my life according to the teaching of islam.
but log peeron kay pass jatay hain for their mudane gains and problem like

business and job problem , shadi , olaad aur dushmani and few so called peer took advantage of it.

abhi bhi duniya main bahut say pious and learned log hain.......... but to find them u have must have a right purpose.

and one more thing.

achi cheez ku dhoodhnay kay liyay mehnat karna partee hay.

(u can find RMP (registered medical practitioner) doctors easily but there are few nuero surgeons in pakistan ................. hope u got my point)

Re: How popular is Jhulelal worship in Pakistan

I know exactly the type u are talking about ..unfortunately they are not even brailwi ..just plain ignorant people who believe any malang decalring themselves a saint

Re: How popular is Jhulelal worship in Pakistan

Nit-pickign aside replace worshiop with rever or some other terms.. My question was whether people belive in it and congregate their to pay their obeisance or not.. IOf yes then how come that temple is in such poor shape..

i dont know much about this but i think qalander and the related things are associated to Harzrat Usman Marvindi ( Lal Shahbaz Qalander ) whose shrine in Sehwan, Disst Dadu , Sindh.

and not the person u r referring to, whose temple in Pune.

i think u shud ask this question on some indian forum… i wonder ne one from this can answer ur query.

Regards

Qalander was sufi saint and bhakt of Jhulelal that's why his name figures there.. click on the link this place is in Pakistan sindh.. Runa laila is oen fo the singers who sings this song damadam mast qalaender..
