Re: how old before they become baji/auntie?
What’s there to be confused about? Why are you so stuck on “auntie”? As some of the others already suggested….why not call the women appa or bhabhi so there’s 0 risk of offending them? Personally I don’t call anyone “auntie” unless it’s obvious that they’re my mom’s age (and my mother is almost 60).
Re: how old before they become baji/auntie?
Well I’m very bad at guessing people’s ages you see. Once there was a lady who I started calling baji, but someone told me she was over 60 lol I had no idea. And another lady I started calling auntie and she asked me to please call her baji as she was only about 10 years older than me.
I don’t want to use appa or name-ji as no-one in any of my social circles use those terms so introducing them would be really weird. And isn’t bhabhi for someone you’re quite close to, not just every day acquaintances? ![]()
Re: how old before they become baji/auntie?
Re: Bhabhi……..How do you refer to men who’re only a few older older than you? Do you call them “uncle”? Or “bhai”?
Then make life easy and call EVERYONE “baji”. At least this way no one will be offended. If someone wants you to call them “auntie”, they’ll let you know.
Re: how old before they become baji/auntie?
It’s ridiculous to see women in their 40s being referred as aunty by grown up women. I’m all for so called aunties saying NO to this silly old demanding title. I’m finally starting to see this trend. :k:
Re: how old before they become baji/auntie?
i think u should directly ask the women what they prefer to be called. By name, aunty, baji, bhabhi or whatever.
