Here's the saying of Hazrat Ali a.s.
**Surely there are people who worship Allah out of desire for reward and this is the worship of traders.
And surely there are people who worship Allah out of fear of punishment, and this is the worship of slaves.
And surely there are people who worship Allah out of gratitude, and this is the worship of the free.
**Which also reminds me of a saying of our Prophet Mohammad s.a.w. (from Mizan Al Hikma, Vol 5, P.9 <<<<I have no idea about this book but I read this somewhere n just copied it down)
The preference of a young man who worships Allah in his youth to an old man who worships after he comes old is like the preference of the prophets to the rest of the people.
