sara but that apathy is evident everywhere and its not racism, because ppl think someone will do something, remember the case of teh girl who was murdered and yelled for help and ppl heard but no one came out?
a lot of it is also, its not my business, I am not going to do anything. apathy is not racism, apathy is apathy.
I have had ppl stand up for me, my neigbours come to my place after 9/11 with food and stuff after hearing on the news that muslims were avoiding going out fearing attacks, some offered for us to stay at their place. an old college buddy who I had lost touch with dug my cntact info out, called me and offered to drive up and take me and hide me in his family's farm untilt hings cool down because he was not sure how ugly it will get.
sure there are ignorant racist jerks around, no doubt about it, but I still believe that the good ppl outweigh them.

Just like Coolmunda I was born in England and have spend 3/4 of my life here. I have been racially abused during schooling and in the late 90's but nothing major like going into your local or any shop/store and being refused service. Personally I don't like to create a fuss, If someone refused to serve me I would just go to another shop, no big deal.
