life and death is indeed a miracle cycle for our species and for all inhabitants of this earth - plants and animals and us humans.
but in our case, we have subtle emotions when confronted with loss or incapacity.
what does everybody think about Old Age?
does remembering old age, makes us feel weak or make us promise ourselves that we will live a full life, with nothing to regret or feel a loss about & then age gracefully.
Re: how much to wonder about our creation and its cycle of life and death?
old age is not a fatality
old age comes when your desire for life goes extinct
old age is the death of dreams
old age is the birth of boredom
old age comes to those who don't know to stay children at heart
old age is the desease of those who survive not from their abilities to struggle in life BUT from chemicals filling their bloods, weakening their bodies nad twisting their minds....
old age is a desease of the western artificial survival, and as a garbage of medicines old age people are thrown in old age house......

discuss if u like...
During school days I had read an article with the title "What I require from life". The author of this article says that when he feels disabled, he must die. I fully agree with the authors view. Keep yourself active, fit and happy until death. It's not worth living a life of utter dependence with the support of modern medicines. Enjoy everything that life has to offer.
But again aging gracefully in solitude is one of the concern. Loss of a long time partner (spouse) is an utter grim prospect hard to bear and overcome. I don't know how many can overcome such a major loss. Life would never be sweeter after such a colossal loss.
Re: how much to wonder about our creation and its cycle of life and death?
well, of course the whole concept of personal autonomy is at stake.
the same human being who could push the world aside, and go about her/his day-to -say dealings, becomes so weak during the old age.
being dependent on loved ones is a huge helplessness; no one cares... very rarely. a relative. even a blood relation. takes care as much as they should.
a life well-lived is a healthy sign of aging with grace and fullfillment, but the actual old age is, a tough time with illnesses and fragility or loss of naturally involuting mental processes.
so we, who are young today, can remind ourselves of being humble and take care of our elders and our ownselves as we grow older.
thanks for ur input.
best ,

Re: how much to wonder about our creation and its cycle of life and death?
my philosophy is: you never get old.
you dont know if you're gonna live 300 years or 30. so at age 70, you cant sit down, and clutch your retirement savings, and say 'im old now'. allah swt knows best, when he will take your mortal life, and thus, we can not spend time 'wishing' for death.
alright, so when people get 'older' they do get weak and become ill. that is common sense, and yes, it is not only a good deed, but also our obligation under islam, to take care of the elderly.
