Of course no relationship is alike. Some lucky people end up with a happy ending and marry.
However, life is not so rosy for all. There are far more people whose relationships do not workout for whatever reasons. How much time have you invested in your relationship? Many people who date, and are the victim of one sided love, normally end up spending at least more than 6-7 yrs, before they give life another chance and marry someone else.
Re: how much time you gave before moving on in life?
i was with this guy for 5 years and even thrgh i knew it wasn't working i stayed with him cuz of love (his love more thn mine)...i wish i had gotten out earlier, but i guess better late thn never.
Re: how much time you gave before moving on in life?
Like Rabia, I gave my life for a loooong time to a marriage that could never work...more than 10 years. Thankfully, I was smart enough not to have children with this guy and even more thankfully, went on to meet my Prince Charming. With whom I;ve had a bit more than 10 year of marital bliss :) (note...sure we;ve had differences and arguments but when you're married to a true partner, these are merely trivialities.)
Re: how much time you gave before moving on in life?
I was with this guy for four years...I was 18 and he was 23...The time I spent with him was magical and he did some really amazing and crazy things for me...Such as flying down to my city (he lives in US; I'm in Canada) and then drove to my university, which is around 2 hours away from my parents' house, one night because I didn't have ride to go home and there was no inter-city bus service either...HOWEVER, things didn't work out as we wanted, and now he's getting into an arranged marriage next month. It's good to know that he's moving on in his life but It's very, extremely difficult to let someone, who you loved heaps and loads, go.
Re: how much time you gave before moving on in life?
hmmmm when i knew things were not going to work out I ended it as quickly as possible becasuse why prolong something that is not going to work, and waste each others' time, part ways and move on. easier said than done, i know it very well, but that is the right approach in my view and experience
^ Mirch: so you are happily married or are still with your first partner! MA.
I liked her , I proposed we got engaged on new years night, got married the following year and have been married for 16 Years now. Alhumdulillah. We have three kids.
Never had any shouting match , not even mad at each other for any reason what so ever, we take care of each other and each others emotions and feelings.
Re: how much time you gave before moving on in life?
I gave myself a year before I decided to look at other prospects. I took a full year because I wanted to make sure I was completely over my past and ready to tackle the future with fresh eyes and not ones jaded by prior disappointments.
Now, Im really happy I did that because if I had met my fiance right after...it might not have worked out. :)

Re: how much time you gave before moving on in life?
well approximately a decade... She had "Not interested" written all over. i realized i should let go way back ... but i just couldn't. i was waiting for a miracle that would turn things my way....
but then i met this very beautiful sincere and caring girl, with whom i started off as a friend... we progressed to become best friends .. and then the miracle happened :D the lovely girl has me hooked to her for life, since she is now my Wife...
Miracles do happen , its just that sometimes they are better than what we want.
I m thankful to ALLAH for blessing me with a lovely life partner :)
