How much time do office workers get for prayer in Pakistan?

Half hour for Zuhur and another half hour for Asar?

Then, how long is the average office worker’s work day? Work starts at 8 AM. 12 PM is lunch time, come back around 1 PM, and then take another half hour for Zuhur around 1:30? Then similarly, Asar is around 4:30 or 5 PM, so they leave early,or work late?

So is a work day really from 8 AM to 6 PM to account for the extra hour of break for prayer?

I guess this all depends on if some wants to take a prayer break, and if there is a prayer area in the office, or close to work. But, regardless, it take 5 to 10 minutes to pray even if you are praying in the office, and much longer if you have to go to a masjid.

**lucky are those who get so much time off  “It happens ONLY in Pakistan” to be honest, break for prayer/lunch or no break, people in most Govt/semi Govt offices hardly work in Indo-Pak. i would say they work may be same number of hours people in the west take break…60 minutes in all [which is NOT paid btw]…i wanna move back to India if i can get an office job! What about private offices, now. The modern offices, like all these MNCs.

Re: How much time do office workers get for prayer in Pakistan?

all of the software houses i have worked at when i was in pak work long hours.......even though official timings were 9 to 6 i would end up working 9 to 9 or in some cases 9 to 11......men worked longer hours than that....zuhur was usually around lunch hour so that was not an issue and for asar and maghrib it hardly take 10 to 15 minutes. All of them either had a prayer room or a small kitchen area for tea coffee etc that could be converted into a prayer area

Ps. a bit off the topic but one of the places i worked at had a 5 star chyef preparing lunch for employees.

Re: How much time do office workers get for prayer in Pakistan?

This happens a lot in private sector. Prayer time has become an excuse for employees to escape work. I have seen many people who never pray at home but they never miss a prayer at office.

But in a country where religion is misused to the maximum in every area of life, this is like a non-issue.

Cool, thank for the answers.

By the way, seems like work still goes on in Pakistan during Ramzan. From the stories I have heard from Arabs, those countries seem to pretty much shut down in Ramzan. Just from my experience in school in Pakistan, us students only got to leave 30 minutes early and that too because lunch hour was used for class time. I remember there were even exams during one Ramzan.
