Hello all!
So im browsing around for wedding dresses, I like this style a lot. This one from karma is quite nice…how much do you guys think it will cost and how OLD is this outfit? I am from abroad i hope they dont ripp me off

It's last years.
As for the cost, well it would vary according to your relationship status with them (regular, first time, etc) and also if you are placing only your bridal or other outfits too. Let's say you are going to them for the first time and wont be ordering any other outfits even then you shouldn't pay more than 2.5 (max 3 if you really like it) lakhs for this. But when you go to karma you will find other options too :).

When I went to Karma, they told me that all the last years bridals were for 2.40..And the new ones were for 2.80..If you reduce a bit of kaam and tell them you have a low budget I'm sure you'll get it under 2..Max around 1.50. You can tell them to omit the kaam on the back of the shirt (they will do kaam on the neckline and hemline and slits anyway) and maybe omit some on the dupatta. This is what I know from my experience with karma

Thanx guys for the info, I just find it ridiculous that karma has still not replied to my emails. it really sucks working from abroad. Max i would spend for this outfit is 1800 U.S dollars. Do you think a replica will suffice? and if so where should i go in karachi?

thats a great point, i am such a new bee to this, i hope they dont take advantage of me being a foreigner. Max i would pay for this 1800 US dollars. Look at the outfit, how much can you possibly reduce from this? itll look like an ordinary formal instead of a bridal lol

Yes its nothing extraordinary but just the fact that its a karma label, you gotta pay for it too :). However i think if you have to pay 2.5/3 lakhs for this then its better you get something better from another designer in same price range. HSY/Zara/MEHDI/MEERAS must be more expensive but i wouldnt mind paying 4 lakhs for an extraordinary outfit compared to paying 2.5/3 for something just normal. You know what i mean.
If you want to go for this same karma outfit, you can have the back of the shirt's kaam removed as it wont be visible anyways with the duppatta on. You can go for a smaller boti on the lengha and maybe omit some lines from border too but usually no matter how much kaam you take off the price doesnt go down that much. So just have a meeting with karma and work it out somehow.

You should give them a call, they never reply to mails. Once I was at their studio and I saw one of the girls speaking to a bride out of pakistan, she was so sweet and corporative and she seemed to be more worried about the dress than the bride was. But make sure you don't pay a lot for the dress, trust me I know a bride who got her outfit for even 90k! (she got a simple lengha with a small motif spray and omitted some kaam on the dupatta). I saw a very heavy gharara a bride got for 1,20..So don't spend so much money at karma! 2-3 lakhs is crazy nobody pays that much at karma these days

It is theirs- its their e-Comm site. the official showcase site is www.aterlierkarma.com but that doesn't have any prices, etc.

yeah i thought so too, then i saw my SIL’s bridal from Nomi Ansari and i completely, totally understood why people pay what they do- it was breathtaking and *extremely *well made. you can really tell the difference in quality at that price point vs. something under 1 lakh. having said that, places like Jabeen’s on Tariq Road, i.e. non designer boutiques, offer bridals from 1 lakh plus and some of their work is quality and beautiful too. given how pricey karachi is these days, i really don’t think its possible to get a quality bridal for less than 1. its possible to get one, my cousin did, but looking at her jora vs. others that were over 1, you can really tell the difference in quality of kaam and most importantly, the material. if your material isn’t the best quality, your dress will not fall or fit properly.

i'd say if your budget is under $2000, don't bother with a designer dress because it won't fall in your budget. explore places like Jabeen's instead- geez I sound like I work for them which I swear I don't- I got my outfits for my brother's wedding made from there and my SIL's valima jora so I'm just a huge advocate of their work now :D

if you're interested in a copy, my aunt is a personal shopper for bridals in Karachi- i can pass on her info to you. she also takes her clients to Rizwan Moazzam quite a bit because she says he has beautiful bridals.

Huma responded saying its 260000....so calling her would help bring it down?

^If you're sure this is the outfit you want, call them and tell them it's not in your budget and you want it between 1-1,30..Omit some kaam, tell them to help you bring it down. Huma is a very sweet person, infact everyone at the studio is very corporative and always ready to help. there's no harm in trying, give them a call and see if it helps. Good luck

hehe finally someone who went to Jabeen's! I got my valima outfit from there for just under 1 lakh and it turned out quite nice and would definitely check them out for future shopping!
Yea karma starts off quoting around 3lakh and will eventually bring the price down to around 1.5 lakh or something around that figure, thats what happened with me and I was quite impressed with the fitting, kaam and timing of the delivery etc
