Australia as a nation would see this as a non contest given our past record against their team in their own country. We havent been able to dent them in tests when we had greats like Imran, Miandad, Waqar and Wasim in our team. No matter wat we threw at them they have always held the upper hand. In the past two series we havent even been competitive. Any Aussie any where on the streets of Perth, Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane would just expect their team to turn up and do the job with minimum fusss.
The Australian Team would be confident knowing our batsmen’s weakness for the moving delivery outside the off stump. They would go in to the match with the comfort of knowing that even though there might be an occasional inning of brilliance but having just brushed aside newzealand and india there is nothing in our team which would scare them. knowing the aussie team such is their confidence there would be bets in the dressing room about how long we would last in a match.
It is against all these odds that the seventeen Pakistani players selected today head to Australia. If we are to win we need to play at our potential for each and every second of the three test matches. One bad session and we will loose the series. We need the confidence we need the belief we need the courage we need the determination we need the will and more then anything the focus on the ultimate goal of winning the series. The emotional high which would follow such a huge victory is something we all as a nation have so far only been able to dream about. We need to go out there give it our best shot and not simply scumb to pressure.
We need to keep our heads. Players like Shoaib AKhtar who at times are temprimental need to relaise the bigger picture and bowl consistently according to a set plan. A minimum for 6 wickets an innings for shoaib and sami is a must if we r to doo well. Our batsmen need to be patient and sensible keep on rotating the strike and never let the Australians get to them in any way. Trust me if we show to the Aussie’s that we mean business in the way we go about play all there arrogance would go out of the window and they would come back at us even harder. This is where we would need to keep our calm and fall back on the mental toughness that bob has been talking about in the recent past.
I wish all the players the best of luck and pray to ALLAH that for the time our team is in Australia there is no infighting no disagreements they r able to focus on the task on hand and do their very best and INSHALLAH end up on the victorius side doing us all very proud.
I agree with your well written piece and If I may add a little spice to it by saying that the trip to down under and the limelight does bring out the briliance of a player. Lets hope this happens and Mohd Khalil Left arm fast plus a new pacer can click at the right time and may stir few emmotions along the way.
Pitches would be lively and ideal for any fame wannabe. However professional attitude and how does one carry himself on and off the field is equally important. My hopes are not well lit for the later though but since I love my cricket, I do believe in luck and the strange way of the turn of events some time.
Generally it would be a good trip for Pakistan and few laurels and wins will emerge.
Players to watch are ; Mohammad Khalil - Danish Kaneria - Shoab Malik & Shoab Akhter - Salman Butt - Inzimam
Once our teacher said that if you aim for Prime Minister Post so you can become Cheif Minister or you can get some minsitry , So Big up guys we should Aim for Victory and in da end Inshallah we will Draw the series which will also be nothing less then a victory.
really funny, that only happens if you really believe you can win, it doesn’t mean that you are more than happy to draw … coz you are unconciously aiming for te draw not a series win, wel as far as pakistan i hope they do well and most importantly even if they loose i hope there is no panic … australia is unquestionably the best team in the world and by a long margin …
Yar khumin bhai therez no doubt Australia is the world best team but it does not mean they r unbeatable . Plus i beleive that we can win provided the condition that we perform upto our potential.
As acrobi123 mentioned our aim should be for clean sweep so we will be able to win the series or draw
it matters more when u r playing the world champs’ and 2condly when you have no chance in hell and have NEVER wona test series against the opponents on their soil.

I dont think seaming balls outside the off stump would be as big a factor as the bounce. The previous tours we had it was the inability of our batsmen to negociate the extra bounce generated by mediocre bowlers on Australian pitches. Yasir Hameed wasted a spot in the team. He could barley play short balls on sub continental pitches let alone negociate Asutralian bounce with his tinnie tiny height.
We have performed well in Australia in ODI's in the past on occasions. Shoaib AKhtar, Inzimam and Afridi have performed well in the past in Australia. The rest of the people are all capable of doing it as well. It doesnt matter what happened to us in the past, it doesnt matter what the Aussies did to India and New Zealand. We are playing good cricket. We came within a whisker of beating them not once but twice recently in ODI's. The same could be achieved in tests. We need to go with confidence and slef assurance. We have tlaneted youngsters at our dissposal who give it all. So long as we try our best and give it our best shot I think we can pull this off. It wont be easy but well easy wins arent interesting anyways. InshAllah we will fisnh the era of Aussie dominance with this series.
I would just love to se the Pakistanis fight their hearts out and i would b satisfied, obviously a test series win there would b 1 of our greatest accomplishments, no way am i saying that i would accept defeat but, i expect a good effort and fight and that is the only way we can do it, Inshallah work hard, stay together, meet the aussie sledging and aggression with force dont back down, chin up and INshallah we can maybe pull something out!!! but the main thing is to stand up tall and meet the oppositon i would hate to see us roll over!!!!!
so its fair to conclude that most of us passionate fans of pakistani cricket are cautiously optimistic that the team can do well in Oztralia.
I surely hope they will.
