On personal maintenance/salon services each month? I tell ya, being a woman or trying to at least remain somewhat feminine-looking is a very pricey job!
Going over my statements and budgeting I find that per month I spend at least $300 every month…And this is only for things like waxing/threading, facials, massages, manis and pedis… NOT skincare and hair products, polishes, and makeup.
The breakdown:
6 manis a month (every 5 days) =$60
4 trips to the salon for threading - $80
2 pedicures a month = $40
facial- $75
massage - $60 once a month
Not to mention every other month has me going to the hair salon for a trim and hot oil hair treatment.
I never could understand all these girls who are constantly going tanning, getting acrylics, constantly color treating or highlighting their hair at the salon and paying for all other services… it gets to be so much!!
Even when I was spending money on this stuff, it wasn't that much. Now, my beauty costs are around:
I get brows done twice a month (sometimes less) $10
I get one pedicure a month and it stays perfect $20
Two mani's a month and in the middle I maintain them myself: $24
Waxing $80 every 6 weeks
Facial $35
I just got a massage for the first time in my life but it only cost me around $19 for an hour
Haircut/color are the only thing I'd spend actual dough on but I am able to do that myself really well now so that's another $100 I am saving every two months.
Reha, pricey? Not at all! I try to get the most moderate deals for this stuff... where I live there is no such thing as $19/hr for a massage... unheard of! Most places charge you a dollar a minute.... basic facials cost $35, but I go to Shiseido for their deep cleansing acne facial and it lasts 1 1/2-2 hours with a back massage and everything included.
I noticed you have pricier manicures though... some places here will charge even 7-8 dollars for it but I'm so used to my lady now I rather pay the 10 bucks and have the peace of mind that my nails will look perfect.
Sara, I should have clarified. twice a month for threading, and twice a month for waxing. I go every other week for eyebrows/upper lip threading and every two weeks for my underarms and arm waxing.
I really oughtta learn to do my nails as best as possible so that I could cut costs on my nails... I feel like $100/month is too much to be spent on mani-pedis.
I do my eyebrows and uperlips myself.(thread cost 2$ lasts for years)
I get a haircut every 3-6months(25$)
I wax/shave my self(10$-20$for razors)
I do mani and padi's at home. I dont like fake nails so its easier.(Pedicure machine cost $25)
We have a massage machine at home, with a foot/leg massager, and a personal handheld massager as well.(all together like 700$) But I bet getting a massage in person is much better.
Compared to what you guys pay, I pay like 30$ a month for myself. But all these things I do at home cost money too Such as pedicure supplies, razors, shampoo, conditioner, oils, facewashes, cleanser, masks. But I def get more for the price.
if you're spending that much on threading, may as well look into something more permanent.
i'm sure you can get manicures that last you 2-3 weeks as well.
and in answer to your question. a big fat 0. i might have a manicure like once a year otherwise i do my nails myself.
i don't have to deal with hair issues thanks to laser and electrolysis. always have completely tidy eyebrows and a clear upper lip. my underarms, lower legs and lower arms are hair free enough that I spend less than 5 mins total shaving once a month. my bikini line is actually almost completely hair free.
don't need facials. my routine takes care of my skin.
the only thing i spend on is my hair, which is every 3-4 months. £50 for a cut and blowdry.
I do my own nails, threading and waxing. I would find it so annoying to have to go every few weeks and rely on someone else. I get antsy when I have appointments of any kind, even pampering stuff like laser hair removal! As for facials and massages, that’s not really my thing. Facials I may get done on rare occasions but I’d do it at home myself because I usually have all the products on hand. I’d rather spend my money on makeup, nail polishes, skin care and things of that nature.
But I will say, I think it’s really great that you’re committed to pampering and taking care of yourself. :k:
Mani/pedi: myself Eyebrows, upper lip threading: myself Facials: myself, sometimes with ingredients in my kitchen, other times I'll buy a good mask from the drugstore. Bleach for face: myself (by the way, if you are going to a salon for this, you are getting ripped off! Also, if you're getting one of those "whitening facials" at desi salons, it's just bleach that you can buy for $8 a pot at a drugstore. Hair removal: I shave at home, unless I find a great deal on laser, but I'm convinced that I'll be an old lady by the time I get all this hair removed. I've had bad luck with waxing, so I will occasionally go to a salon to get a wax, but it's rare. Hair: $15 trim, and I do spend money on getting a proper cut & color about once every 6-8 months. It'll cost me under $100.
You should figure out what you feel comfortable doing at home.

O.M.G.....you spend a LOT! You mentioned you go 2x/month for threading....so they charge you $40 for eyebrows and upper lip threading?!!! Is this in the U.S.? You spend around $3800 each year on nails, massages, and facials!!! That's like 2 international week long vacations a year for me and my fiance!
Below is my routine:
1) Eyebrow threading: $3 charge + I leave $2 tip each time = $5 total; I go every 2-3 weeks. For rest of my face I use Nair (if I get anything else threaded other than eyebrows, I break out).
2) Massage: LOL....I get one like once every 6 months. There is a local massage school that charges $30/hr for full body massage for their interns. And since they do it for "school credit"....they're not allowed to accept tips. :) Most cities have massage schools that offer similar programs. Otherwise, I roll out my back using foam rollers.
3) Facial: Thanks to my chemical peels and Retin-A.....I haven't had a facial in over a year. My skin hasn't needed it. But when I used to go....I went to a local Vietnamse salon that charged $45 for an hour long facial and I used to go once every 3-4 months.
4) Waxing: I invested $ on laser hair removal on my legs and underarms 3 years ago.
5) Nails: I do my own at home. The only time I get it done professionally is when I'm attending weddings.
mani/pedi - I do it at home.
Waxing - I use the epilator, been using it for almost 10 years now, so barely have to touch up, mostly on a bi-weekly basis. So no issues there.
Eyebrows - I thread at home.
Facials - maybe twice a year? Instead I have invested in some high-end skincare products, and that takes care of it, so I don't really feel the need to get it done professionally.

Its about $12 per mani if you go to a proper salon. If you go to a school (always cheaper) its around $8.
What I do is get them done but maintain them myself. If I see them growing out or chipping...I try to do what I can to make the mani/pedi last as long as possible.
I get my eyebrows and upper lips threaded every week too. My hair growth is very fast and in a week its like what most people get in a month. If you go to a mall where they do threading it really is $17-20 per visit. I go to a lady at home and she charges me $9 per visit for eyebrows and upper lips. Sometimes if I am in a rush I go to the mall where they charge me the above mentioned.
I think what the poster has mentioned above are ok prices. I pay $15 for ahaircut every 2 months but only because its a beauty school not a regular salon. I get a facial every month for $25 as well at a desi lady's who works out of her house. Maniucures/pedicures occasionaly only.

2x a month threading is $10 with the tip for eyebrows and upper lips. So $20 a month
Undearms and half arms is 27 each time and I leave a $4 tip each time... so 31 per trip.
Wow look at all you gals. I only get my eyebrows done if I have to go to some special dawat/wedding or on eid ul fitr. I just make sure wherever I go I am dressed nicely with appropriate make up. I've never been one to go to slaons all the time. My friends tell me I should have a special salon I go to. LAst time I got my eyebrows done was 3 months ago for a cousins wedding..lmao..
