I am in the process of wedding planning in the U.S. right now. If you girls don’t mind can you share the quotes that you got and paid with tax and service charges for your reception for the below
Hall per head- did it include food, soft drinks, chair covers and table linens?
DJ- Did you get MC/lighting?
Photographer/videographer
Decorations- lighting, centerpieces, stage
Bridal dress
Cake
I am just trying to figure out the rates and create a budget. Thanks in advance!
For someone with a reasonable budget. I dont want anything OTT but at the same time i want a decent wedding. I am asking to find out average cost of services just so im prepared to negotiate prices with all the wedding vendors.
^ Even with someone on a "reasonable" budget....based on your original inquiry, it's a very large range.
You may want to mention to following just to get a better idea:
1) What state are you in? (what's considered "reasonable" in NY or CA would probably be considered "way too much" in TX). Tax also varies from state to state (I assume so does the service charge). Location makes a HUGE difference when it comes to weddings.
2) Type of venue you're interested in: traditional desi wedding halls versus American chain hotels (Intercontinental, Omni etc), versus local American boutique hotels.
3) For the cake: You need to decide if you want butter cream, fondant, or both. Buttercream is the least expensive. The "design" of your cake also adds to the price (if you want special shapes, sugar flowers etc).
^ the decorations estimate sounds too good to be true. For just the LED uplighting a decorator quoted me 30/unit and he said i needed about 20 units for the ballroom. Centerpieces starting at $30 per table. Not sure about the stages but i thought a simple stage could be upwards of a 1k since the less elaborate mehndi stages cost about $500(based on some research).
Was DJ the basic package or with an MC? any dance floor lightings?
DJ was the basic package. We wanted to do our on MCing, tho he was willing to do announcements as requested. And there were dance floor lights, yes.
As for the decor, she was really great. The decorations included centerpieces at each table with real flowers (submerged orchids mostly), a couple special "head table" decorations, stage decor, uplights on stage, an additional set up for photos, etc. We're in the DC/MD/VA area. We used Partyland flowers and decoration.
Thanks Sahar! Do you mind sharing a picture of the kind of stage. It doesnt have to be yours something similar because some of the decorations i met are quoting around 1500-2k just for the stage.
^ This stage with uplighting, plus two head tables with special centerpiece decor, and then simpler centerpieces (tall vases, submerged orchids and floating candles) on all other tables, plus a set up outside with a little backdrop for photos was $2000.
For the other wedding we had a gorgeous stage plus just the centerpieces for $1500.
