How much cloth?

Hi / :salam:

I was just wondering if anyone knows how much cloth would be needed for a wedding sharara or gharara, if anyone can just give me an estimated # that would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance

Re: How much cloth?

i think a gharara is 6 metres of fabric for the bottom portion so that there is proper gheyr, but im not 100% sure on this. and then its additional material for the dupatta and shirt. and my sharara dupatta is 2.5 metres i believe. i'm getting my wedding clothes soon! yay! i'll let you know when i get my gharara.

Re: How much cloth?

I would say between 8-9 meters for the whole outfit except the duppata, duppata atleast 2.5 meter.

Re: How much cloth?

yeah for gharara it should be 7 metres. for dupatta 2.5 metres and for shirt 2 metres.
for sharara 5 metres is ok. or even u can make sharara in 3 metres but the gheyr is not much in 3 metres.

Re: How much cloth?

You are most welcome, hope they are useful for you.

Re: How much cloth?

they say each leg of a true lucknow gharara is made from 12 yards of fabric...

Re: How much cloth?

thats nuts! i'd drown in that much fabric :p

Re: How much cloth?

No wonder they make the bride walk so slow because of the outfit is so heavy with 12 yrds of meterail plus the work(kamwali gharara/lengha) plus the heavy chruni, all must sure be creazy. Poor brides had to carry all the load plus the load after wedding ha ha...............................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
