a. I did...took me a whole hour and a half to work up the courage to ask him, and I made him sit there and not get up until I managed to spit the words out (not literally) . He even had a sandwich while he was waiting because he was just so baffled (and i'm assuming hungry)

b. needless to say, I was not successful :(

Where I come from a young man would not be permitted to do this. Instead one must tell ones parents to talk to the girls parents and if they accept to such a proposal then you may take a walk to her house and only then.

Offcourse when I was very young I made a very brave and very stupid decision to ride out one day and stop at a certain young ladies home. :wub:

She was my first love and her parents were happy for me to visit the house occasionally offcourse things never worked out though both our parents agreed to our marraige, cruel fate did not let things be the way that would have been best.

Alas that sad and tragic episode has since become a distant memory in my life.
