I don’t think one should bring Hazrat Muhammad ( P.B.U.H ) in this debate , according to authentic islamic history and most of muha’dis are agreed on this fact that he ( P.B.U.) got married or have performed Nikkah 11 times and at the time of his death nine ummah.til momenen were alive . Tariq bahi stated *‘This makes it look like that our own Prophet Mohammed went against the teaching of Quran (Astaghfarullah) as most of his marriages were during the time of peace and not war.’ * Hazarat Muahammad (P.B.U.H) never went against quran . To my understanding islam was in state of war till Mecca was conquered by the Muslims on the 10th day of Ramadan on January 630 AD (8 AH) and the prophet’s last nikkah was done in 7 AH and most of his marriages were done for social and political reasons and expect Ummah.ul momenen Hazrat Ayesha , all other mothers were widows .
Therefore I agree with hyponotix’s statement that Polygamy in peaceful and fruitful times is NOT a Quranic Concept .
