Hey girls, long time no speak hope you all are well, me and baby are great but i’m just a bit concerned about her hair. I’ve shaved it 3 times since she was born, she is now 10 months old. Her hair is quite dry and very thick and uncontrolable…is it because i shaved it too many times? Whe she was born she had quite silky hair. I wish i didn’t shave it again after the initial ‘chand’.
How many times did you shave your babys head? what can i do to soften her hair a bit..or will it just get better by itself? I will start to put oil on it once a week.

My daughter's hair is finer and lighter than when she was born. We trimmed once and shaved completely once. Honestly, I don't believe the headshaves thicken hair.
It's probably just what her hair is like. You can try switching shampoos.

i shaved her twice.. once on her 7th day and another one when she was 1.5 mnths and have no plans to shave again although some ppl keep sayin it will improve her hair quality. AH when she was born she had full hair *in front and a bit of empty patches here and there at the back of her head. her hair was jet blck and nice quality (gone on her papa) and now after 2 shaves her head MA has such thick hair... i feel so blessed. balke itne thick and pointy hain she almost seems like a boy!.. dunno if its logical to shave alot or not but i think to an extent its true cus if u compare our hair with white ppl hair(whose hair is so fine and thin.. most of them atleast)... dun worry... even if its thick its gud for her.

We shaved our 10months old daughter's head only once, she has masha ALLAH such heavy silky hair that her first shaved hair mass was almost equal to 3-4 times of normal babies. But my hubby is insisted on getting it shaved again in winters but i don't want it as i don't believe it does any good, its all natural.

4 times... not cuz i cared bout hair growth etc.. just aisay hi... felt like it cuz he looks gorgeous with a tind :D
but its genetics love... someone in your immediate family must have had hair like that.. your husband, you, your siblings, your husband's siblings? i read somwehere that a child takes influences from 6 ppl, parents, maternal granparents and paternal grandparents, and if you look a bit further, than the siblings of the parents.

I guess her hair takes after me then! My mum, me and my sister have very thick long black hair. My sister who is 21 uses hair straightness etc alot as you do at her age but her hair is still healthy. So I guess my baby's hair was meant to be thick and has nothing to do with shaving then?
Just one more question what baby shampoo do u all use? I don't like Johnsons!

johsons dries out my baby's skin and hair... its horrific atleast here in denmark... even i used to use it but for some reason its not like how i remember it being all those yrs ago when i was growing up....
kher... i use a non scented line of products for him... for sensitive skin.. but its only sold in scandanavia though im sure non scented products aimed especialy at ppl with sensitive skin are available eveyrwhere

MY baby's skin is very dry and Johnsons body wash (the head to toe, and shampoo) further dries out his skin and scalp. What can I use to wahs him up, that wont be too harsh on his skin? I'm in the US, BTW.

We have shaved out daughter’s head only once and her hair is thick and curly MashaAllah. I don’t think shaving the head multiple times makes any difference.
Please don’t laugh but I use Lush’s curly wurly shampoo on my daughter’s hair … any other shampoo just makes it unmanageable and frizz out like crazy… the poor baby would cry when I combed her hair and I tried so many shampoos out there :hinna:
Finally curly wurly worked out well, sometimes I also need to use a conditioner on her hair, its too thick and gets all tangled up otherwise.
