How many times can you say no?

Re: How many times can you say no?

Act crazy… pretend insanity or something… that will put off any rishta offers for the short term.. hehe :silly:

Re: How many times can you say no?

^ not a bad idea actually. Clearly they don't have a fear of god, time to put a fear of you into them. Fake a nervous breakdown, start yelling and crying and then laughing like a maniac, throw some things around, b*****sh a butter knife and threaten suicide. Clearly its about time you started as dramatic as your parents, maybe they'll respond to that better.

Re: How many times can you say no?

I told you twice before in the other thread and I will tell you once again - GET YOUR PASSPORT CANCELLED. that means only you can;'t go. GET IT CANCELLED

Re: How many times can you say no?

Not to be rude, but I feel that you are tired of saying "No no no", so the best is to take a paper write "NAHIE KERNIIIIIII" with a permanent marker and stick it behind your backbone and one in front :)
So whenever they see you, they will not ask again.

Re: How many times can you say no?

I can feel what you are going through. Once i was in the same boat, but i choose not to say NO and I am happy today.

Its hard to say and stand-up against the wishes of your parents. i think if your parents are with you, you can achieve what you want.

Stick to your NO and try to convince your mum directly or indirectly or maybe talk to your khala(if you have, as khala's are the best).

but DO NOT GO TO PAKISTAN with out any plan. Trust me once you are there, no relative, police, force, agency, friend can help you. you will be stuck.

Act normal in front of your parents and go on with your life as nothing has happened.
may be focus on the negative aspects of the guy and tell your parents.

Re: How many times can you say no?

As many timse as you want to.

Come on, do something and tell clearly you do not like that rishta.

Give a valid reason also for not going along with rishta. That will help everyone.

Are you seeing someone else or have any other reason not liking the rishta? Sorry I skipped few posts.

Re: How many times can you say no?

Well today she rang and said I had reservations about the risthaa and that its a no from our side.

But between the conversation - she goes to me - you want to talk to your cousin? (the one they want me to marry) :kursi:

I think they might start getting physically violent - was a close call today.

Re: How many times can you say no?

LMAO…I think it’s funny how she chose the word, “reservations”…which is putting it really mildly. But I can understand that she has to try and word in a way that’s tactful.

Hopefully your cousin’s family got the message and this whole drama has come to an end. I think that if I were you…I would have talked to my cousin on the phone…and told him that I’m not interested. Sometimes hearing from the the actual person makes it clearer/more real.

I assume you mean report it lost or stolen? they can replace it within a week. Not sure if that will have the desired effect.

Re: How many times can you say no?

Yeah - maybe redvelvet but with them looming down me, wouldn’t want to try it. Today she grabbed my wrists really hard and her eyes were popping out as she threatened to beat me up.

Shocker that this women is my mother.

I know this sounds awful but I just don’t have the same respect for them anymore.

as for acting crazy :e6: with all the crying I have been doing - I probably do look half mad.

Re: How many times can you say no?

Shame on your mom............all the more reason for you to continue staying strong. I wish you had your own place.......cuz it's very uncomfortable living with your parents in this kind of tension. What your parents are doing is a gunnah. Who knows? There may even be sawab for persisting against something that's a gunnah.

Re: How many times can you say no?

I hope so redvelvet in heaven theres a big chocolate cake of sawab waiting for me... LOL or something. Yeah just trying to stay strong. But its hard! Some days are better than others.

Re: How many times can you say no?

Ok, considering your mom's reaction you just mentioned, going to Pakistan is a terrible idea. Please do whatever it takes to ensure that you don't go.

Your family is not siding with you when you are not even married. If you DO get married to your cousin out of pressure, it will get worse.

I have not read the full thread. Do you not have siblings?

Re: How many times can you say no?

No, if you report it lost and stolen they do not replace it automatically just in case you find your passport. Anyway to get it replaced You need to sign another replacement form, with your old details and get it countersigned and stuff to get a new passport.

Report it lost and make sure your parents dont know and they'll think everything is fine with your passport. Then come the day to go to the airport and you cannot travel because its been declined. They can go or stay or whatever but they wont get any refund on their tickets. Anyway whatever happens with them you wont be able to travel. I'm sure it costs alot of money for tickets, not like they can easily go again until your parents are rich

Use it as a last resort if you cant find any other way of getting out of going to pak.

Re: How many times can you say no?

Tell them you're seeing Diwana. Get his phone number and address and give it to your Dad. It might keep them off your back for a while and I'm sure Diwana won't mind taking one for the team
