- Zardari, in anticipation of a likely PPP loss of government. Any other PM will readily write a letter to the Swiss, and Zardari already has plenty of places abroad, so hed be out in a jiffy. Most likely destination, Dubai.

Re: How many politicians will relocate overseas before the next election?
Now with the MQM and PPP getting the dual citizenship thing passed these dunces can do both, live abroad and still rule (plunder)!
Re: How many politicians will relocate overseas before the next election?
No Place like Dubai,
No taxation, Nice high life, Media under strict control, to many pubs and clubs around, and on top it all, have Investment company called Al-ibraj Capital there... why would he want to go anywhere else??? Specially when:
In Europe, there are cases pending against him, Swiss case is there and them more important one the Sarkozi case, where the he and ex-president of France was involved in some kick-backs which went wrong and 10 or 12 French lost their lives in Karachi....
Re: How many politicians will relocate overseas before the next election?

You are underestimating Zardari. The only key politician who spent 9 years in jail without a trial but did not run away unlike others. Whether he wins (most likely) or loses the next elections, he would remain in Pakistan, don't worry about it.

If he is not running away..why go to lengths to hide his assets in swiss banks..and build property after property abroad..why not build something here..
but never mind..i know wat the answer will be..:)

Zardari spent time in jail because he did not have "privilege" of giving favors to Arabs like Nawaz Sharif had, otherwise Zardari would've been escorted out of Pakistan too.

Zardari went to jail because he was caught off-guard. He never expected to be sent to jail, being the husband of an ex-PM. If he had any inkling that he would go to jail, I can bet you he would have run off.

He could have made a 'deal', and left jail anytime he wanted.
He is not a good President, but there is no doubting the courage he has shown in life.

Or he belongs to Sindh, worst than his corruption charges :)

In all fairness, Zardari was in an A class jail, technically a 5 star hotel. He was not exactly hurting in there. And I have first hand experience of his shenanigans from behind bars during his jail time. He did not want to make a deal, because he was getting his way without a deal. He commandeered a team of thugs from the inside, who threatened all witnesses into withholding their testimonies to NAB, which is why we always hear the infamous statement 'none of the cases against him are proven'.

Ye Dour apney NRO ki talash main hay....... Sanam Kada hai Jahan La ILa ha IL Allah
Re: How many politicians will relocate overseas before the next election?
The Jail Zardari was in - the luxurious life he had there - those little cosy congenial visits ... If given a choice , half of this pakistani population would happily opt for living in that ' JAIL' !!

oh yes when there is nothing left to defend we have the sindh card to play...
lagay raho yar!!
Re: How many politicians will relocate overseas before the next election?
One thing is fact and that is, if Zardari was from Lahore than he would have been hero of most TV Anchors and many on this forum who abhor him.
Anyhow, let see politician who would like to hold public office in Pakistan but have huge interest outside Pakistan, and would benefit from dual nationality clause most. Actually, posters have posted name of few but two main beneficiaries are as under.
Imran Khan: All his important interest is outside Pakistan in form of 3 known kids (kids who would inherit him and his political empire if he manages to establish one), God-knows how many unknown kids, Known sole surviving love partner and God-Knows how many unknown love partners. He has assets abroad too and most likely has dual nationality.
Nawaz Shareef: Most money of poor Pakistanis he looted and plundered, he transferred them illegally outside Pakistan, and now has major share of his corrupt money located outside Pakistan, especially in London but in Saudi Arabia and other parts of the world too. He manages his foreign located assets himself and with the help of his son. It is possible that he also has dual nationality.
Re: How many politicians will relocate overseas before the next election?
^ you mentioned two guys who are ‘likely’ to have foreign nationality, but forgot someone who actually LIVES abroad and controls lives and deaths in Pakistan. :halo:
BTW, Nawaz Sharif at least has some source of income to show for his assets here and abroad. Where did Zardari get all the money to buy chateaus and property in Europe? Oh, sorry, I forgot. He’s not from Lahore and hence immune from any allegation.
It is interesting that Zardari is talking to Altaf bhai to get support on this issue… neither is a ‘main beneficiary’ according to you. Funny.
Re: How many politicians will relocate overseas before the next election?
^^^ You can say that Zardari has done corruption and I would agree with you, but ... :
If you are talking about base assets of Nawaz, than the fact is that Nawaz family had small foundry in early 70s that got nationalised by Bhutto. Anyhow, his fortune turned when Zia adopted him and gave him opportunities to loot the country. Today his corruption, loot and plunder brought him probably amongst the richest 3 in Pakistan.
As for Zardari, his family background was rich even at the time Zardari was born. He inherited leadership of Zardari tribe in Sindh owning 1000s of acres fertile land in central Sindh (Nawabshah District).
His father’s Bambino Cinema, one of the finest Cinemas built in 60s on huge plot of land in most expensive area of Karachi itself is worth several billion rupees today. Even in 60s, when Rs 100 was a lot of money (at that time gold was Rs 157 an ounce or ~Rs 59 a Tola in international market), the plot was worth several hundreds of thousand rupees and building cost of Bambino Cinema could have been much higher than 100s of thousand rupees (1960s rupees).
If Shareef’s had sold all their belongings in 60s then also I doubt they would have gathered enough money to own Bambino Cenima alone.
Zardari schooling was in one of the most expensive and prestigious schools of Karachi (Grammar School Karachi) and even in 60s Zardari was having expensive living.
Zardari background is richer than Nawaz even from marriage alone, that is marrying to Bhutto family who themselves are one of the biggest landlords of Sindh.
So, to compare background of Zardari with Nawaz in financial terms is ridiculous.
Anyhow, leaving financial background, both Nawaz and Zardari are perceived corrupt, and I would not like to speculate who is more corrupt, Nawaz or Zardari.
