Are they funny? Well, that depends on who’s acting. I don’t know the names but I know who the funny ones are. Just because it’s a punjabi stage show, that doesn’t mean it’ll be funny. But there are certain actors that are really good and the show is funny because of them.

I agree with you, some shows are funnier than others. But there are some shows which are full of dirty language and having no respect for close relationships like Mother/father/Brother/Sister etc.
Why the local govts even allow them to be performed in their cities.
In order to make their audiences happy they use inapproperiate language and doesn’t care about the families sitting there watching.
I can’t speak punjabi but can somewhat understand it. I want to watch some decent and nice shows . But nothing good to watch anymore.
Here are my questions , if anyone has any answer.
Are we heading toward social disaster ? or Are we there already ?
Well I can give my opinion here. Just wanna know from those who have recently watched those shows on video or in person. Lets see, what other guppies think.

They're intended towards male audiences only. That is how they sell themselves. If they used regular jokes, nobody would watch them.

Agreed, but still what kind a fun is that if they are hitting their blood relationships. We must have respect for mother/father/brother/sister. They use such a bad language aganist them, I feel shame to repeat it here.
If they run out of dialogues and audiences like new stuff, then writers must sit down and write new stuff keeping in mind the respect for family values.
This is not a justification for them to make fun of family values. May be I feel this way. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion.

Well, the video ones are decent, atleast the one I have watched. Those were about 3 years ago and I don't know the current ones. I heard, and now you confirmed, that they are becoming worse and worse day by day. It's sad. What Hunk said is also true. If they don't use that adult language or jokes, they won't attract people. That's what the public wants to see/hear, and that's exactly what they are providing.
Is it bad? Definitley. But business is business. If they care about decency, they'll run out of business and people would turn towards international 'entertainment'. I am not supporting those shows, but what my point is that yes we are (and somewhere already there) moving towards social disaster but that's what the public wants to see and that's what the businesses are providing.

I have seen the current ones on video and couldn’t believe that they have gone this far. Then again If public doesn’t care we are not here to enforce our views in any way.
Just try to watch any latest show and then you will know what I mean.

I guess I know what you are talking about. The ones that are decent and the ones I like are in which these actors are performing:
Waseem Abbas
Shaukat Ali (Shoki)
Mastana
Anwar ali (I think that's what his name is, short skinny guy)
Sohail Ahmad
Ganja (I don't know his name but he's a tall bald guy)
And a few more
I don't know if they work in any of the indecent shows. When I went to Pakistan in December 2004, I rented a video CD of punjabi songs and MAN! Talk about bey-ghairti! Girls dancing moving their skirts up, shaking their butts, breasts, making seductive faces and what not! The shop I went to, to rent some movies (Indian), had a song playing on TV and the girl was dancing and taking her bra off and letting audience have a glimpse at what was underneath it. It was so disgusting.

I hardly know the names of those actors , as I have seen may be 4 or 5 so far. But that’s it. No more Punjabi shows. Where as Dancing galz and showing glimpses of *** , I think people don’t care any more whats happening around them.
My favorite are PTV plays. Atleast they are left with some decency .

I used to be a big fan of punjabi stage shows - that was BEFORE the days of vulgarity
I would recommend KETCHUP - an absolutely hilarious stage drama with aman ullah and sohail ahmed
I literally roll over the floor laughing when watching it

I agree with you, They were used to be a fun to watch but now a days its really something that one can not even watch it. Remember last year when Police caught some of these so called artist who were involved in voulgar Dances and remarks on stage. Even few months ago I read that in Faisalabad one of the punjabi female stage dancer took her shirt off in front of audience.
I used to watch it until few years ago but last time I could not beleive my eyes and ears, since then I stopped. Still I play some old Umer Sharif, Shakil Sidique, Sohail Ahmed, Amman Ullah, Babu brall and the other guy who played “Chach Kiyoon” in one of the tv drama’s.
