…know whats happening in the Central African Republic? Has your media sources covered the news?
Re: How many of you…
Honestly…I had no idea. I have not seen or heard of any news coverage on this on any conventional media outlet, and it makes me quite ashamed; after doing a quick google search I found a couple of blurbs from BBC

Re: How many of you…
None.
Its all about the missing plane and Ukraine.
Re: How many of you…
I do know, but only because a friend mentioned it in a conversation. I have to admit, can’t see past all the russia/crimea/malaysian plane hoopla on my news apps at the moment.
Re: How many of you…
I know about it and have been following it on a casual basis - but issues in southern African countries never tend to get the media attention they warrant.
Loss of human life and systemic killing (fine, let’s call genocide, genocide) in countries where there is no geo-political benefit tends to get pushed under the rug under the guise of an internal political conflict, that and I think there’s a degree of desensitization when it comes to conflict in African countries - the idea that there is brutishness of tribal-minded people and that this kind of conflict isn’t unusual for “them”
I’ve always struggled with the idea of why one person’s or one group’s life/lives are more valuable than anothers and why one merits not just media attention but political and military intervention and condemnation. Isn’t all human life sacred?
Re: How many of you…
I had heard a bit on msnbc before the Ukraine/Crimea and Malaysian Air incidents pretty much blanketed coverage, along with national political news.
It’s the same way the Genocide in Rwanda didn’t get as much coverage. Poor black people hardly ever do. They are the voiceless.

Some but not much. We like to talk too much about pointless celebrities over here ![]()
Re: How many of you…
Yep but not in too much depth. Just main headlines.
Re: How many of you…
Seen a lot about it on Al Jazeera and a little bit on the BBC.. it’s not covered much on the UK based channels tho..
