The reason: I’ve been requested to.
Its actually going to be sent to Japan, where the phone part won’t even work. What a waste.
Overall it should be a pretty sleek device, once its unlocked and I can find sync-ing techniques without using iTunes. Here are some of the things you can use that device besides using it as a phone:
- as a media player (pictures, audio and video)
- an internet device (using Wifi)
- as a camera (2 mega-pixel)
- as a GPS navigator (see this article: http://www.navigadget.com/index.php/2007/01/15/gps-navigation-on-iphone/)
- an e-book reader
- to play games
- and ofcourse as a PDA

Nope I wont buy it. Because I already have a phone that does everything that the iphone can do and even more. OK it doesnt look that sleek :D .
I dont like the fact that the Iphone doesnt have many hardbuttons. And third party software wont be free!

iPhone looks attractive but blackberry 8100 is good enough so far… besides, its with cingular/att.

Considering its not even available anywhere (i know the release date is not till next week) you don't have any other choice but to wait. I have a feeling its going to turn into another Wii-type hype.

Im still debating whether I'll get it or not or if i am willing to shell this amount of money on such a fone.
RE: hype, yeah it will be hyped up, its an apple product, so hype will be same as was for iPod.
RE: att/cingular, im quite happy with their service, reception is excellent where I want it to be i.e inside the house (which is surrounded by hilly area), on most freeways in LA area. I have yet to find a dead zone unless im up in the mountains somewhere.

Just wanted to give u guys an update. The iphone is locked and has to be activated using iTunes, but unlike previously rumored u don't have to be locked in for 2 years. You can get a month-by-month (GoPhone) account and the device starts working. To get that part to work either use someone with bad credit ( :D) or get a code from an ATT store which lets u create the GoPhone account. Let me know if anyone has any questions.

Not right now. Lack of support for Blackberry server is the deal-breaker for me.
Not to mention its a first generation product. Let Apple fix the problems on 700,000 guinea pigs first before I will even contemplate it (most likely for my wife, and not for me).
ATT works fine for me (in our area). Hopefully future iPhone will support 3G. The speed difference between my BB Pearl (EDGE) and my wife's Samsung SYNC (3G) is fairly substantial.

iPhone is just a Nokia/Sony Ericcson wannabe. Faisal summed it up pretty well...let 700K guinea pigs test it & then let them release the next gen. Perhaps ... Maaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyybe. I might not even buy the 2nd gen, its just a friggin iPod with GSM capability, that is about it.
