how many of you were forced

Re: how many of you were forced

Speak both urdu & punjabi fairly decently. As mom spoke to us kids in urdu, my dad spoke to us in punjabi...they made it a point to do it this way so we learn both languages. BAck in grammar school, my mom attempted to teach me urdu reading/writing, but failed as I always wanted to play outside instead :) But I am able to read some urdu from newspapers/magazines etc. So Inshallah hope to learn more written urdu from my hubby and definitely plan to teach my son urdu and hopefully punjabi too

I make Misbah speak in Urdu, it's hilarious but she is getting the hang of it.

O saray log jairay punjabi ho kay punjabi naee bolday mera dil karda ay ona dee rajj keh chhittrol karaaan. Meri madri zaban punjabi ay, tay main 15 saal dee umar ich sikhni shuru keetee see, jay meray naal koee punjabi baitha ho'ay tay main kadee wee kisi hor zaban ich gall naee karda.

I grew up in an Arab country. Urdu at home, English at school & arabic outside with friends. Was never forced for anything.
