I remember when it was all the rage in school. That and ICQ. I never got the hang of those though, I've only been on mirc a handful of times.

I lived on IRC in my teens. When I first joined the channel that I later became a permanent member and mod in, I was all with the internet abbreviations and the then mods told me I'd be kicked if I didn't type properly :(

I used mirc for the first time in 1997 at university. I was introduced to it by a uni friend and it was the first time I used chat. I did not want to go on at first because i thought it was a bit sad and pathetic to use a chatroom but then I thought how odd that I am talking to 2 people at opposite ends of the world in totally different time frames. I started using it quiet regularly but then other things took over. I have occasionally used it over the last few years. I have met people from it. I want to go on again but it wont let me. I downlaoded it last year used it once. I tried to use it again but would not let me as I have used the trial period up. I deleted it and re-instaled it but still would not let e use it. how do I get past that?

It was a great place to meet some experts all over the world, whether it was freeBSD or satellite technology...

p.s. it wasnt mIRC, it was IRC... mIRC was just a client to use IRC.
