How many of you know the words to the Pakistan national anthem?

I was thinking about how in America, the Star Spangled Banner opens every major sporting event. Everybody knows it.

And I remember in Thailand, when the Thai national anthem came over the loudspeaker for no apparent reason (at least, not apparent to a non-Thai) in the main train station, EVERYONE froze at attention until it was over. Like some kind of stop-action magic wand.

What about in Pakistan? I remember it coming on the TV at the beginning or end of broadcasting, I think. (Ha! That shows you how old I am – I remember when there was only one station in Lahore and most hours of the day and certainly after midnight, there was no programming at all. What would people do nowadays without their many channels??? Oh, horrors…but I digress.)

Is the Qaumi Taraana played at sporting events? Do kids learn it anymore?

You should check with your american friends. Most americans don't know it beyond the first few lines (and the famous last line).

"What about in Pakistan?"
At our school, we used to sing in our morning assembly every day.

I know the Kuwaiti, Emirati, Pakistani and Indian national anthems by heart.

Every Pakistani whose been to a Pakistan school in the Middle East knows it too probably.

See! I did a few years in International School and College of Pakistan Kuwait so that's why I know. Pakistani anthem was drilled in to us during the morning assembly.

not necessarily. persian is not even our language. i dont even know whats actually the current version of anthems says, let alone memorize it :bummer:

It actually is very easy. There is a rhythm to the Pakistani anthem.
