Been there. Done that.

Was selected as a juror for a case that ran for 5 days.. case closed; came home; got $200 check in the mail for the duty....

FYI:

Atleast in NY, they send the notification to anyone who is in the mailing list specially listings coming from Dept. of Motor Vehicle....

I myself had received the notification TWICE when I had the green card. I was excused after filling out the reasoning in the VERY notification form they had sent.... There was a portion to state why you think you are not eligible...

One of my friends, who had H-1 visa, received the same and pleaded an excuse similarly.

Im sorry to sound brash, but the jury systems are are load of **** choosing an average person on the street cannot outweigh the level of a decision a judge can make.

With juries all it takes is one out of twelve to screw up the process. With judges, it remains about a fifty fifty chance that the person can understand the situation.

Arghhhhh angers me!
