How many of you ever convinced anyone on GS

Re: How many of you ever convinced anyone on GS

There has been more than one occasion here on GS where I had a view that was diametrically opposed to another's and we devolved into mud-slinging but toughed it out and found the answer somewhere in the middle. I LOVE when that happens!!

Does Showbiz Pakistan count too? If yes, I'm the Queen of convincing!

You can only convince those people who have either no opinion or have same opinion as yours, but conniving a person who has opposite opinion is close to IMPOSSIBLE in both web and real lives! ... However some people can respect you and making you think as if they are convinced, but they can't be convinced if they have reasons! ...

The life should go on with the differences in opinions among us, we need to learn the philosophy of live and let other live with dignity and respect, else you will be fighting instead of doing arguments! I am talking about some hardcore issues with 180 degree shifts in thoughts... not something related to daily life like buying nose ring for wife or screw driver for husband! ...

Yes ATA.......I am convinced you meant tools for Men.......and not Men's tools.......:D

Re: How many of you ever convinced anyone on GS

In life 1 I have convinced a person or 2 from letting go of arguments that only go in circles. It was obvious that those arguments were a lose-lose situation.

How I managed to do it?..well its cuz of my charismatic nature of course …what else could it be :snooty:

TLK no matter what you do or say…some people will not and can not change their views about particular topics. Especially if they are are old and set in their ways. Unfortunately, in PA/WA we have some young bucks who are 25 going on 65

Perhaps they MAY change on the surface to please you or others but truth of the matter is that it is unlikely that they can change what they have been raised/taught to believe. These beliefs will resurface eventually.

exactly! by taking em out of their shell :D

so lobsters are like real people, they are hard to crack when they decide to stay in their shells :hmmm:

yes yes! a great way to get back to the topic

Lots of times. I'll post examples where people convinced me to change my mind on some things. There was an Indian poster ravikz (sp?). He made me change my mind on many of my political stances be presenting the other end of the spectrum. Also, there used to be ohioguy and underthedome, pretty convincing debators. Zakk was amongst them too. His views were instrumental in a joint decision to oppose dictatorships. Sadly, this place detriorated considerably and pretty much all of them stopped posting here.

Re: How many of you ever convinced anyone on GS

Plz let me know if u dont think I am good at convincing, I shall go an open another thread in bazaar asap :hehe:

I think OG and UTD got busy, plus the whole war hoopla kinda died out even in US media and public at larg with attitudes changing, so why beat a dead horse. Zakk can tell you himself why he stopped posting.

I have convinced many readers that Cheese and Crackers are the way to go...

However, I have yet to work on making lunghi's and vest tops a more common occurence on the fashion scene.

That may have been, and that is mainly because Pakistan Politics is no longer the same. Now its jis kee lathee, oos kee bhains walee politics and posters on this website, coming with that minds set would reflect the same attitude that eventually repels the serious posters.

People no longer follow ideology, they follow a person. So if i follow MR X, and MR X decided to be on Government side, I am going to swing that way and the day MR X decided to be on Opposition side, I will roll back to that. This is the saddest part of our politics. It was not like that till a decade ago. Its OK to be a hardcore political party supporter but that should not happen at the expense of one's own conscious.

Not really, as I tried to contact some of them to try and get them back a few moths ago (I made a post about that too). What they told me was exactly how I felt a while ago. It didn't have anything to do with politics, in fact the political scene is bubbling right now. If you go look at some other Pakistani forums (I can show you links), they are doing rather good. Many of them are successfully charging membership fee with some services they provide (online shows) and they have lots of people subscribed.

Its because a while ago (2-3 years), there was just no tolerance to feedback and people started getting kicked out for the silliest reasons, mainly because you see a different treatment if your views do not match that of the admins/mods.

I found many of these ex-posters posting on another discussion forum, and they are pretty active.

Re: How many of you ever convinced anyone on GS

did u ever find out why zakk does not post much in politics now?

hmmm .. last 2-3 years? Why do you think it was like that. Last 2-3 years, we had pretty much the same mgmt that we had before 2-3 yrs. You think that mgmt tolerance level changed for that period of time or the expectation of members in terms of how far they can go before they should be warned increased.

Re: How many of you ever convinced anyone on GS

Maybe it did change, but I see more accountability perhaps because of the new team or newer people involved.

:hehe:

Hey! my statement conviced you to agree with me :)

Re: How many of you ever convinced anyone on GS

yeh i convinced TLK that i am nice :champ:
