when i was growing up, it was a survival skill for all of us to learn to climb the trees for fun or for getting the fruits like mango, guava, Indian Plum [ber] and java plums [jaamun] etc.
i remember vividly going into mango orchards in the middle of the nights in my village and climbing up the trees and then descending with the whole bunch of mangoes…*…
…so, did you learn to climb trees ever or tried to learn? let us know how skilled u r climbing up a tree…*it is said that climbing down a tree is even harder than climbing up
Always been afraid of heights. So not good at climbing trees. Funny you mentioend mango tree. During lunch hour, some kids would play some games, climbing on the tree - other trying to catch them. Then they would jump down to some piece - and if they touch it, the catcher had to do catching all over again. (Piddhi was the word - catcher had to do Piddhi till he cught someone, then they become catcher). Too brutal for me.
But have climbed a tree - as long as trunk not too wide.

oh yeah, YES, i did play that game and in our area it was called 'lappoo DaanDaa **لپپو ڈنڈا] लप्पू डंडा]**** in our Poorbii Zabaan. it was fun to play that game :D**
Yup!! ALL the time…coz I was the lightest and could climb up to the highest branches to get the fruits…my cousin bros would always send me up..but I would just stay up there and eat all the yummy fruits by myself before I decide to bring some down for them
So it never worried me that I would have no fruits on the trees to eat..coz I know the ones on top will be all mine
lol sure why not! barbie dolls were fun too but i was more into travelling ever since i was a kid. n no i cnt ever imagine myself as a tom-boy though i m not very girly either. i m just me hard to explain!
**wowwwwwwwww!!! so, you are just opposite of Zareen…you seem to have been a tomboy i too remember a few girls who were able to climb would climb higher because of their weight. heavier boys were always reminded by elders to be extra careful on Jaamun trees because they have the weakest branches. i knew a guy who came tumbling down with the branch and he broke a few of his bones and was confined to bed for a month poor guy!
did your parents or older siblings scolded you to for climbing trees?

Nope...my dad always wanted a boy..and mom wanted a girl..so I was never all girly, and never too boyish...so I was allowed to do a lot of things..the only thing my dad did not want me to do was martial arts :(
Also climbing the tree was a way to hide from my aunt when I lived at her place for a while..I would climb the tree and then onto the roof and sit their in peace when I did not want to see or hear anyone :P
