Re: how many of you can actually understand the Quraan?
Well, not really. We can for sure understand a lot of words but to make sense of the whole sentence, it's difficult. I feel very embarrased, that I can speak Urdu, read and write and arabic is the same script and we have so many arabic words in Urdu but I cannot speak Arabic or understand Arabic of Quran.
Nevertheless, I made it a point to read translation in Urdu and English and listen to Tafseer slowly and gradually so that whatever I read/recite, I know the meanings. That way it becomes easier to remember or learn by heart. I wish I had learnt Arabic as English in school right from first grade.
