How many of you believe in UFO sightings and stories?

Re: How many of you believe in UFO sightings and stories?

this thread reminds me of the movie "The fourth kind"....if it was a fictional work i would have been ok but it was based on a true story and i could not believe that something like that happened in real life.

Re: How many of you believe in UFO sightings and stories?

Re: How many of you believe in UFO sightings and stories?

Re: How many of you believe in UFO sightings and stories?

if you read hitchhikers guide to the galaxy there is a story about a major alien invasion, i have pasted it below for your reading pleasure

It is of course well known that careless talk costs lives, but the full scale of the problem is not always appreciated.

For instance, at the very moment that Arthur said, ‘I seem to be having tremendous difficulty with my lifestyle,’ a freak wormhole opened up in the fabric of the space-time continuum and carried his words far far back in time across almost infinite reaches of space to a distant galaxy where strange and warlike beings were poised on the brink of a frightful interstellar battle.

The two opposing leaders were meeting for the last time.

A dreadful silence fell across the conference table as the commander of the Vl’hurgs, resplendent in his black jewelled battle shorts, gazed levelly at the G’Gugvuntt leader squatting opposite him in a cloud of green sweet-smelling steam, and, with a million sleek and horribly beweaponed star cruisers poised to unleash electric death at his single word of command, challenged the vile creature to take back what it had said about his mother.

The creature stirred in his sickly broiling vapour, and at that very moment the words, ‘I seem to be having tremendous difficulty with my lifestyle’ drifted across the conference table.

Unfortunately, in the Vl’hurg tongue this was the most dreadful insult imaginable, and there was nothing for it but to wage terrible war for centuries.

Eventually, of course, after their galaxy had been decimated over a few thousand years, it was realised that the whole thing had been a ghastly mistake, and so the two opposing battle fleets settled their few remaining differences in order to launch a joint attack on our own galaxy—now positively identified as the source of the offending remark.

For thousands more years the mighty ships tore across the empty wastes of space and finally dived screaming on to the first planet they came across—which happened to be Earth—where due to a terrible miscalculation of scale the entire battle fleet was accidentally swallowed by a small dog.

Those who study the complex interplay of cause and effect in the history of the universe say that this sort of thing is going on all the time, but that we are powerless to prevent it.

‘It’s just life,’ they say.

Re: How many of you believe in UFO sightings and stories?

well… old but relevant ..

Mazlan Othman, a Malaysian astrophysicist, is set to be tasked with co-ordinating humanity’s response if and when extraterrestrials make contact.
Aliens who landed on earth and asked: “Take me to your leader” would be directed to Mrs Othman.
She will set out the details of her proposed new role at a Royal Society conference in Buckinghamshire next week.
The 58-year-old is expected to tell delegates that the proposal has been prompted by the recent discovery of hundreds of planets orbiting other starts, which is thought to make the discovery of extraterrestrial life more probable than ever before.
Mrs Othman is currently head of the UN’s little known Office for Outer Space Affairs (Unoosa).

In a recent talk to fellow scientists, she said: “The continued search for extraterrestrial communication, by several entities, sustains the hope that some day human kind will received signals from extraterrestrials.
“When we do, we should have in place a coordinated response that takes into account all the sensitivities related to the subject. The UN is a ready-made mechanism for such coordination.”
Professor Richard Crowther, an expert in space law at the UK space agency who leads delegations to the UN, said: “Othman is absolutely the nearest thing we have to a ‘take me to your leader’ person”.
The plan to make Unoosa the co-ordinating body for dealing with alien encounters will be debated by UN scientific advisory committees and should eventually reach the body’s general assembly.
Opinion is divided about how future extraterrestrial visitors should be greeted. Under the Outer Space Treaty on 1967, which Unoosa oversees, UN members agreed to protect Earth against contamination by alien species by “sterilising” them.
Mrs Othman is understood to support a more tolerant approach.
But Professor Stephen Hawking has warned that alien interlopers should be treated with caution.
He said: “I imagine they might exist in massive ships, having used up all the resources from their home planet. The outcome for us would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn’t turn out very well for the Native Americans.”

Two mysterious lights appear to hover beyond the tree line and above the heads of several deer in Jackson County, Miss. YouTube/Screenshot

A Mississippi couple claims to have captured nighttime images of a UFO hovering just above the tree line of their wooded property. The mysterious bright lights look like headlights, but are too high off the ground and there is no road around. Did the couple spot an alien UFO, or something more mundane?

According to [WTOX News](http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/ufo-sightings-caught-tape/story?id=16114939), Rainer and Edith Shattles, who live in Jackson County in the southeastern tip of the state, were using infrared trail cameras to take pictures of animals during the night. Around 7:24 p.m. on Feb. 16, some deer appeared in the frame. At some point during the next 30 minutes or so, a bright light was spotted that illuminated the animals. Then a second light materialized. The strange lights appeared to hover for a few moments before taking off.

The Shattles say the lights couldn’t have come from their infrared cameras because the cameras don’t have a visible light source.
“Whether it’s alien, I’m not sure about that, but it’s definitely a UFO,” Rainer Shattles told WLOX News. “Whether it’s a government drone or what, I wish if nothing else, if one of them would step up and say ‘Ya, that’s ours.’”
In 2011, there were about 500 UFO sightings reported every month in the U.S. – an uptick of 67 percent from the previous few years. Most of the supposed extraterrestrial encounters turn out to be less-than extraordinary. The Huffington Post notes that one particularly baffling UFO “sighting” that took place in Kansas City a few years ago turned out to be the Army Golden Knights parachuting team performing a nighttime jump.
Still, there are some UFO sightings for which clear explanations were never found.
The Shattles may never know exactly what it was that appeared before their cameras that night in February, but both of them seem OK with a bit of mystery. “It adds a little flavor to life,” Rainer Shattles said.

There is no dearth for such stories(or real sightings?)but no government has ever readied to verify it or discredit their existence. Most of these sightings are reported from the United States  .Aliens are so interested in American soil.

Real alien autopsy photos: ‘Roswell’ image of extra-terrestrial body dated to 1947 - Mirror Online

UFO expert Tom Carey claims to have been given the images by an agent from a US intelligence agent who operated during the Second World War

YouTube / Dietrolafacciata

‘Smoking gun’: An alien autopsy photo. A new one has been dated to 1947 A UFO researcher claims to have been given an authentic image of an alien, supposedly taken after an autopsy in the top-secret Area 51.
The photo, taken on film, was sent to Tom Carey and has been verified to date back to 1947 by Kodak, the same year of the infamous Roswell ‘crash’ in New Mexico.
Mr Carey has now contacted Kodak historians to seek further confirmation on the date the image was taken.
He said: "‘What’s interesting is, the film is dated 1947.
"We took it to the official historian of Kodak up in Rochester, New York, and he did his due diligence on it, and he said yes, this filmstrip, the slides are from 1947.

"It’s 1947 stock.
"And from the emulsions on the image, it’s not something that’s been Photoshopped like today.
“It’s original 1947 images, and it shows an alien who’s been partially dissected lying in a case.”

Spooky: New alien photo emerges of Area 51 Carey believes that the creatures are four feet tall, and added: "The head is almost insect-like.
“The head has been severed, and there’s been a partial autopsy; the innards have been removed, and we believe the cadaver has been embalmed, at least at the time this picture was taken.”
But not all are convinced by the photo.
Nigel Watson, author of the Haynes UFO Investigations Manual, said: "Usually when people make promises that they have the smoking gun of ufology – positive evidence of their existence – they come to nothing or they produce rather underwhelming evidence.
“However, if aliens were retrieved it would be a world changing event and I can’t imagine they could keep the lid on such an event throughout the 50s and 60s.”

Re: How many of you believe in UFO sightings and stories?

Two things...do I believe that people saw stuff flying that they couldn't identify, sure, hence the term UFO. In terms of people actually being abducted by aliens and all, well I'm not sure what that could be but I also wouldn't say that everyone having made the claim is lying.
