Re: How Many of you Back-Comb Your Hair?
I have attempted it and needless to say it went terrible. It sounds like all that teasing would make your hair weak and brittle.
Fashion goddesses is this true?
Re: How Many of you Back-Comb Your Hair?
You just have to imagine the damage your doing when your brushing it all out. Ouch. I do back comb but a shortcut to doing this, probably not any healthier for your hair is just spraying hair spray under the sections I was about to back comb.
Re: How Many of you Back-Comb Your Hair?
not at all.
Re: How Many of you Back-Comb Your Hair?
Only on rare occasions, it's really not good for your hair though.
Re: How Many of you Back-Comb Your Hair?
Try a good volumizing shampoo.
Use a round brush....they are designed to build volume. Throw your head down...and brush hair in from the bottom and upwards...flip it over...and brush a few more strokes...and you'll get some volume. You may not even need the blow dryer. OR.....you could apply a volumizing serum/mousse to damp hair....and then create volume by brushing it with a blow dryer and round brush.
You can try bump-its as well. They work for some people.
Maybe you need a different hair cut that creates more volume.
Re: How Many of you Back-Comb Your Hair?
try using root lifting spray. they work very well. they are like hair spray, and gives volume to the root of the hair. you can also try to use dry shampoo, some ppl say it gives their root volume and lifted look. your hair doesn't have to be dirty for you to use the dry shampoo.
Re: How Many of you Back-Comb Your Hair?
Probably 5 times so far. Use a bump-pit, you can get these in Claires or Boots. This wy you wont be damaging your hair.
Re: How Many of you Back-Comb Your Hair?
my hair is really heavy and so I backcomb my part a little everyday. It really doesn't look like I back-comb it just looks like i have a little volume. Eventually my hairspray gave me a dandruff issue so I recommend trying to use a curling iron to kinda give you a shape or a hill. The heat really helps keep the volume hairspray everyday is not good for your scalp (lesson learned!). or I've noticed when i wash my hair the night before and put half of it up and in a snooki like poof with a clip the next morning it has lots of volume naurally. you just need to blowdry the ends of your hair to take out any waves that may have formed while you slept on wet hair and it does the trick. But I used to sleep with rollers in and that didn't help either my hair is heavy things like that tend to fall but heat helps. So consider those things and don't over backcomb when you do it everyday. it shouldn't be a birds nest taht you can barely comb out you know?
Re: How Many of you Back-Comb Your Hair?
I use Volumaster (OBH Nordica), and it gives lift to ur hair and hair doesn't look flat. It also damages ur hair little, obviously its heat, but if u use like heat protection spray it wont do that much damage:D
Re: How Many of you Back-Comb Your Hair?
On special occasions. I deal with my volume issue by not allowing my hair to grow too long (shoulder length) with layers. I use volumizing shampoo and that helps maintain some volume.
I can't grow my hair long for this reason :(. I look terrible without that volume.
Re: How Many of you Back-Comb Your Hair?
Also, If you have fine hair to begin with....it's advised not to get too many layers added to your hair....as that actually can make it look you have even less hair. Hair with an even length is recommended instead. If you plan to get your hair cut, talk to your stylist about what type of layers/style/length would give your hair the most volume. Sometimes...highlights and a change in color can also give the appearance of thicker hair. However, dying for some, can really dry out their hair.
Re: How Many of you Back-Comb Your Hair?
yeah I agree with redvelvet, at times highlights give a look for thicker hair.
