How many of us (Muslims) pray ?

:salam:

Dear brothers and sisters. I have opened this thread solely for the purpose of an important pillar of Islam- Namaz (salat).

I have no right to force anyone to offer 5 daily prayers, but since this is the religious forum of GS, and those who come and post here and enjoy reading posts, have an obligation to Allah. I feel that prayer is one of the most important thing in Islam.

We are all trying to increase our religious knowledge, and may Allah help us in seeing the right path.

Those who are praying are doing a great thing and may Allah reward them for this. Those who are trying to offer their 5 daily prayers, may Allah make them successful in remaining firm on Islam. Those who are not offering their 5 daily prayers, must make an effort to change and fulfil obligations.

This life is very short (avg. 70-80 yrs), so please avail the opportunity while you still can. It only takes a few minutes to complete our duty towards Allah in the form of namaz.

"The five daily contact prayers are the main meals for the soul. While a soul may attain some growth and development by leading a righteous life, and without observing the contact prayers, this would be like surviving on snacks without regular meals. "

There are plenty of ayat and ahadith on salat (namaz), however I would like to mention one:

On the authority of Abu Harayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet :saw: , who said: **Allah (mighty and sublime be He) says: ‘The first of his actions for which a servant of Allah will be held accountable on the Day of Resurrection will be his prayers.**If they are in order, then he will have prospered and succeeded: and if they are wanting, then he will have failed and lost. If there is something defective in his obligatory prayers, the Lord (glorified and exalted be He) will say: See if My servant has any supererogatory prayers with which may be completed that which was defective in his obligatory prayers. Then the rest of his actions will be judged in like fashion.’"

Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Nasa’i, Ibn Majah, Ahmad.

So dear brothers and sisters in Islam, lets make an effort so that we are careful about our obligatory 5 prayers.

Aslaam-Alaikum!

I pray but it's mostly 4 prayers a day. I usually miss the Zuhr namaz because I do night shifts and as a result I sleep during the day.

I'm trying to find out the rules for reading Kaza namaz so that then I won't miss any of them at all.

As far as Salaah (namaz) is concerned its an obligation upon all of us…and its the only thing tht distinguishes betweena blvr and nonblvr

although i know salaah iz obligatory iam struggling still trying to correct myself (its been goin on for a long time and i persist in sinning)

5 times a day iz wat iam want toaim for but iam still not sincere enuff…:teary1:

Al-hamdulillah.

Atleast you have the good intentions to pray. Just ask Allah Almighty to help you walk the straight path. That’s what I do.

Allah Almighty forgives any sins that a man commits, it’s only about remembering to ask Him for Forgiveness.

Cut down on the junk hobbies.

One prayer is equivalent to 10 Salahs and the Sawab coming from one prayer is many times than that.

If your talking about 'bad temper' here brother, then reading Aoozobilla Hi Mineshtaan Nira Jeem 3 times, whenever you get will control your anger miraculously.

Mothers always love their children, no matter what. Even if you disrespect them on daily basis, they're ever so keen to forgive.

There is guidance for you brother because you know what's right and wrong.

Everything does always come back, that is suppose to.

That only applies to rejecting the existence of God still at the moment of death.

Carrying out a good action after commiting a sin wipes out that sin.

Solutions are many. It will come to you eventually because it's what you want. It's all about asking for Allah Amighty's help at the end. He wants to be known, He wants people to ask Him for anything, He wants people to praise Him. That's the way it is. (Your every action, word and thought is recorded by the angels on your shoulders, so Allah Almight does listne specifically to every person).

Got this in an e-mal. Thought it was interesting:

Among the marvels of modern technology is also the ability to track the missed calls which were made by our friends and foes and the likes.
We do not get a good night’s sleep, unless we have returned the calls of those who matter.
We don't let any call go unanswered as long as we know that it matters.
Don't we?

But how about the calls of "hay-yaa al-as-salaah and hay-yaa al-al falah" made from the neighbourhood house of our master, the Almighty Allah.?
Those calls are made five times a day and many a times they all go unanswered.

We do not either respond!!! Nor do we respect these missed calls. Do they matter?

Everybody can tell, if these really matter. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but surely in the hereafter.
Let us look at ourselves. Can we afford to let these calls of the muezzin be missed, day after day, after day.

The call from our cherisher, sustainer and the ultimate master.
Just think about it.
Next time one hears this call, just ask yourself how good a night’s sleep can I have by missing those calls from the house of Allah

Think about it....the answer may come from the inner heart.

May Allah (swt) guide us all on the right path - Ameen

I don't hear the calls from my neighbourhood because I work all night... but offcourse that doesn't stop me from saying my prayers.

However, calls do come from deep inside of my heart to which I respond to naturally.

:jazak: Rukhsarbibi , Digital Surgeon and Hilal K.

Lets share all the prominent ahadith about Salat. Don’t forget to give the reference.

Khwateen o hazraat!

I have cleaned up the thread. Sorry for being away and being late. But anyway, when you don't see me online or no action taken after a reasonable time, please be kind enough to drop me a PM or get in touch with an Admin. I can't promise a reply everytime, but atleast I read all PM's (promise! :)) so you would have done your job. Appreciate your patience and help.

Thanks.

jazakallah for this wonderful thread :k:

Alright its understandable. However if you need to do research on it- then perhaps you want to start right away? You dont want to catch up on all the missed prayers after too long.

And in my opinion if a person doesnt pray from the heart- but rather just because they are told to- its not really very meaningful.

Khair there were times when I wasnt very punctual when it came to prayers- however I really noticed a difference in the way I was living. There was a weird feeling- I would mope around ...and nothing really made me feel as if I had done something worthwhile. Getting back on track helped a lot.

You'll just have to push yourself. But the main thing is to ask Allah Almighty to let you worship Him. Make a prayer to Him and He will guide you then, until then, it will be hard, but a simple prayer isn't.

That feeling is great, it's a sign of that beautiful attachment to Allah Almighty.

umm i pray mostly 5 times lekin my Zuhr and Maghrib namaz during week days is only limited to Farz..

im the same as MQ.. when i only prayed what i could and the rest Kazaa i felt quite unsatisfied and i was always such a depressed cookie. However, ever since i started praying 5 times, i feel happy and lively (most of the time)

Wonderful thread.

I pray regularly as well, and I agree with MQ. Prayers should and must be from the heart.

Suroor, I've never not wanted to pray. But I can understand the power of inertia. For me it helps to realize that this is a duty I must fulfill, and it is my responsibility, as an intelligent adult to fulfill with my body, mind, and soul, since I am MashAllah capable of doing so.

I recently heard an Imam speak about making an active effort to always improve in our prayers, to be increasingly focused and reflective. May that Imam receive sawab, because I feel my prayers have been better since then.

^ it is a wonderful feeling inst it?

i dont think ive ever not wanted to pray. I have felt depressed and sometimes excuse myself from Allah Mian.. but I end up comnig back with a stronger urge to pray.. its wonderful

ASlamu alikum

I have a problem MOST of the times i tend to OVER SLEEP and MISS OUT SalaatulFAJR........and tht puts me in such a distressful and depressed mental state tht the rest of the day i spend feeling GUILTY

i know i shuold be praying 5 times and at the same time iam lazy.....and dont wake up on time but tht is just killing me I DONT WANT TO MISS SALAATUL FAJR....BUT I DO....ITS LIKE MENTAl TORTURE I CANT LIVE LIKE THIS

ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW I CAN BE CONSISTENT IN PRAYING FAJR??????

jzakALLAH
