How many langauges you heard / talked today?

I talked in four languages and heard seven languages today.

I was with my boss at a government office, when he received a call and said in Gujarati ‘Kem Chho… soo ko cho chawa..’ . something like that.

Then during meeting, the discussion went on in English.

When we reached office, I heard a Saraiki Chokidar saying someone on phone : ‘dujhi galh ae Sajid wal na aawsee’

As soon as, I opened the door… our peon asked me in Sindhi ‘Sahib heth aa?’

When I entered my room, my colleague asked in Urdu ‘kaisi rahi meeting’.

After a while, our peon entered room with tea cup in his hand and said to my colleague in Punjabi ‘Patti chukko’.

And finally it was prayers time and I heard Adhaan in Arabic… Allah o Akbar, Allah o Akbar.

In Canada, we have people from all over the world and they speak their own languages among themselves, especially the older generation but it's hard for us to decipher exactly what language they are speaking...i go by eastern european languages, asian languages and then languages of the sub-continent.

can't tell.

Re: How many langauges you heard / talked today?

but you can tell about what you talked.

i talk to my Bhaaii and Bhaabhii in my Poorbii zabaan and in Urdu on the fone to relatives other than my immediate family and of course in English when outside or with nieces and nephews when they are visiting us.

Re: How many langauges you heard / talked today?

i noticed that Pakistani visitor always said "Allah Haafiz" while we, Indian Muslims, said "Khuda Hafiz but it's a recent phenomenon that most Indian Muslims in foreign lands, even in India, now say "Allah Haafiz" because it's more Islamically correct. we don't se Khuda much now. strange?

Re: How many langauges you heard / talked today?

Not strange

Re: How many langauges you heard / talked today?

thanx for the link.

i didn’t mean that saying Allah Haafiz is strange nauuzobillah. what i meant was that this recent phenomenon of Indian Muslims switching from Khuda Haafiz to Allah Haafiz is strange.

i wonder what Iranis say, Khuda Haafiz or Allah Haafiz?
