how many clothes

i know how we all brag about how we have an addiciton to shoes n bags n clothes - which girl doesnt?! - but i was trying to rationalize my wardrobe and trying not to be “wasteful”…and i was wondering..how many items of clothing shud a working, married woman in pakistan have?

i was counting, and i have about 12 cotton outfits for work; approx 9 lawn suits from 2009; (have given all but 2 of my old lawn suits away); then approx 9 swiss voile/chiffon suits with light embriodery for small scale socialising; and about 9 fully embriodered (not shaadi wala work) for larger scale desi style dawats etc…

of course i am not getting into heavier outfits worn to shaadis - thats a separate head althogether!!!

i know it depends on ur social circle etc…but really, why is it such a sin to repeat a dress if u have 9 of them and there are more than 9 parties!!!

its just that i feel that making even more dress would just be wasteful…and i just freak out at the thought of “israaf”…

really curious as to what u girls think/ how many outfits is too many??!!

Re: how many clothes

I'm with you girl. I live in the States and travel a lot so my Eastern attire occasions are limited. So I really don't want to waste the money to get a new outfit for each new event.

I agree - why is SOOO bad to repeat an outfit?

Re: how many clothes

it's not bad to repeat an outfit...wear it confidently and own it girl!!!! you can wear the most expensive outfit and look bad if you don't carry it well with confidence...and you can look super hot with the same old dress you have worn before if you got the confidence thing going

Re: how many clothes

whenever i like somethin shalwar kameez wise i wear em again at public events i don’t care what ppl think. i’m not rich:snooty:

Re: how many clothes

^ I agree. It’s all about confidence, contentment and satisfaction at whatever you have.for those who have an excuse saying that it is a SIN to repeat dresses, how many of you have been hearing comments abt repeating dresses like ‘oh you are repeating it again’? I am simply of the opinion that if i wear the same dress for the 5th time at a party,mo one can dare kick me out of the function for committing that SIN :halo:

Re: how many clothes

I dont mind repeating an outfit but if for different occasions/crowds.
key is to get joray that are versatile..that can be low key and classic..or dressed to the nines.
I have outfits that are like.. "single girl" (artificial jewelery and lots of bangles) or "married woman (gold jewelery). :D

Re: how many clothes

I don't think it is practical nor economical to buy a new outfit for every occasion!..unless of course you have money to burn!. I certainly do not have the means to do so and I definitely repeat outfits.

As Sara516 has stated the key is 'versatility'. An outfit can be dramatically changed by wearing it a bit differently (e.g. the same Kameez can be paired with a shalwar, trousers, capri's or churidar) and/or accessorizing it with different coloured jewellery, shoes, bag etc.
