Baby takes ages to drink milk. I make two ounces, he will drink it all in a go sometimes, sometimes he will drink 1/2 ounce and then sleep and wake up in half an hour or 45 mins and want more. Can I give him the one he left? Or have to make anew? What’s the take on how long I can “keep” BF1 morinaga infant formula???
And for those who say I have to make anew, shouldn’t that apply if he drinks all in a go but over a period of an hour? (he is a slow drinker) Does it go “bad” in that time?
But, if I may mention- I am a pediatric therapist and this may be a sign of low oral muscle tone. Babies start to display signs as young as being one month old, but parents don’t respond soon enough as they think it is just a habit and will get better on its own. If it continues, in about a month or so, I would discuss the matter of slow swallowing with his doctor at the next visit.
Based on what I read, formula,
-can be stored in the fridge for 24-48 hours
-expires after 2 hours outside of the fridge
-expires 1 hour after the start of the feed/warming
From the time it is made: Two hours refrigerated if the baby hasn’t drunk from the bottle; One hour if he has. It’s because bacteria from their mouths can spoil the formula so you shouldn’t be holding on to it past one hour of the start of feeding, which im assuming, is also when you’re making it.
